Meh she didn't really bother me. Neither were that great but at least the other girl was intelligent. To tell you the truth i barely even paid attention to the whole romance thing but i really enjoyed all of the other characters.
(SPOILERS) Did no one play as a woman? Then you can bypass all the romantic stuff with Ashley the racist, and then cut her loose when you have to chose between her life and Kaidan's. Good thing about leaving Ashley to her fate is that she gets killed fighting for what she was reluctant to uphold in her life: racial equality and co-operation between species. Decisions in "Mass Effect" run deep.alexbaricco
OMFG, I didn't know that when you choose who to send on the mission they die!!!!!!!! I just got to that point in the game and I think I chose to send Kaiden........... FUDGE....
Maybe more notice on what part of the game the spoiler is for, rather than romance....

Seriously Deep thought there. I kept her alive in the hopes that she would learn to be tolerent of other species. Which by the end of the game was essentially true.

I've played as a woman and I did just that. When I sacrificed her, I didn't think of it like that. Well spotted;)
Anyway I don't think Liara is ugly, she's nicer than Ashley in my opinion, hence why I chose to do the romance sub-plot with her instead.

(spoiler) You still get the option to save either. You can either go back for the one you sent or opt to save the other.(SPOILERS) Did no one play as a woman? I thought Kaidan was ok but I hated the alien (Liara?) and Ashley. After my first playthrough to get the achievement I just stopped having romances while playing as a guy and I killed Ashley every time.
Agreed, and you don't even know what she looks like.To tell you the truth the best female character in that game was tali...I wanted to be able to have a relationship with her...I would have killed the two other's just for her.
With both the playthroughs I did, My character(male both times) had relations with the Asari and with Ashley. Ashley is better.shaddix55
At what :P;)?
I thought the blue chick looked fine. This is the age of blue people.

I killed Ashley, because I thought it made sense for the mission. Kaiden is a technical specialist, so I thought he should deal with the bomb. Then, when he and Ashley were both in danger, well, the bomb's the mission priority. I had to rescue Kaidan simply because the mission demanded it.
I prefer Ashley's looks, but Liara's character. So, I made an Ashley-like Shepard, and got off with Liara!Dordledum:lol:
threesome!!!vp22Agreed, this should have been an option. I thought Bioware wanted to be innovative.
Wow, a lot of Ashley hate here. I thought Kaiden was terrible. I think he was supposed to be Carth on annoyance steroids. I never let him live.RAMRODtheMASTERI was always under the impression that people preferred Ashley over Liara. I did. But I guess I can understand the appeal of Liara. There's something appealing about blue chicks. Liara, Aayla Secura the blue jedi, The Avatar chick when you realize it's really Zoe Saldana, Smurfette. I get it.
