Mass Effect Problem

For some weird reason, I have a limited number of saved games in Mass Effect. Meaning, I can only save a certain number of times before it doesn't give the option of "New Save Game" meanwhile, my friend's profile has over 200 saves. MY hard drive isn't full or anything. So I'm curious, anyone have this problem? How do I fix it?

i have 6 chars with around 80 hours of gameplay ( total, not each) and i have less then 10 save files total.

I agree, why DO you need that many saves?

Well, the reason why you need so many saves is because Mass Effect, has a bad save system. Let's say, you fall off a cliff with your Mako, and you didnt save before you got on it. You have to go all the way back to where the game auto-saved. ME isnt Gears of War when it comes to Auto Saves. This is also one of ME's many problems. Dont get me started.
