I've started playing Mass Effect recently, but not sure which route to go down paragon or renegade.

I prefer being a renegade but being nice appears to have more bonus is this the case or should i stick to being bad???

Advice plz.......

In which case? There's really not much difference in which you choose. There's a few slight changes in the way to get things done and the quest rewards or story line. I imagine you'll play through the game a few times anyway so I wouldn't worry which to choose.

Stick with the one you've picked, then replay the game going for Paragon.

What he said, and renegade is so much more fun anyways.

Just play through more than once. I actually had more fun the second time I played. I don't know if that was because I went for the Renegade achievement that time or what, but Mass Effect is definitely worth more than one run through.

I like the mentality of gunning for the greater good, and therefore I would probably not waste my time with most of the paragon actions, or many of the renegade ones, for that matter.

Color me "gray".

A trillion lives spanning numerous species of an galactic empire are in danger.....and I'm asked to help some guy find his daughter or whatever.....

Attempting a departure from the good/evil/lawful/chaotic D&D-inspired matrix in their previous games, BioWare created the ethical system in Mass Effect to allow you to be both a Paragon and a Renagade. I'm pretty sure you can do both; correct me if I'm wrong here. More to the point, it's a role-playing game: Do whatever you'll have more fun doing.

Do you get anything for playing it the first time? Gaming's not a terribly productive hobby. Define "benefits."

Be sure to party with Rex if you go Renagade, and Garrus if you choose Paragon. Both will help you along the way. But, if you are a Paragon and you party with Rex, he may inadvertantly get you Renagade points because of his ruthlessness. And vice versa.

Honestly, neither of them really give you much of a bonus, but when it comes to the endings the mixed ones are best. If you play through as renegade make a paragon choice at the end and vice versa. Btw, renegade will give you an oppurtunity for perhaps the funniest moment in any videogame.(It involves an interviewer)

Play trough the game at least 3 times :)

1. Paragon/Renegade

2. Renegade/Paragon

3. Whatever you feel like, depending on the situation.

I got both the achievments in the same playthrough. Dunno if you can do it until you got pretty major Charm/Intimidate stats though. Anyways, I was a renegade until about halfaway through, then got the paragon right at the end after talking down a certain someone else who we dont like very much.

Ah ha! I thought you could do both. I maxed my Paragon pretty early on, and ended the game with my Renegade about halfway. There were a lot of times though, that I got Paragon points when it was already maxed. I had assumed that if I gained Renegade points in those instances, I could eventually max them both out.

Renegade is the best. You can punch almost everyone in that game with renegade.

Play it twice if you can. If not, go for renegade. I've played through completely as paragon, and the choices were mostly boring. I've started over as renegade and some of your lines are hilarious! I especially like playing as a female renegade.

Trust me, play mostly renegade but always be nice to Liara and Ashley. You will get to do the nasty with one of them near the end if your always nice to them.

Reneagde is the easiest to get the achievment for, there is little difference in the game whether you choose Paragon or Renegade.

It doesn't matter. You do get an achievement for reaching a certain level in either one. Honestly there isn't any real difference, at least not that I noticed.

Whatever you get a kick out of to be honest. Renegade tends to have more hilarious outcomes but choose whichever onemakes you feel better.

There really is no consequence to being either. Choose which ever you want.

I say, play it as a Paragon at least once. Because I'm sure you'll want to play Mass Effect 2, and the only way to start ME2 with the overarching story on the "Paragon" path, is to go that path in ME1 and import it into ME2. Mass Effect 2's "default" story setup, had you not played or imported your save from ME1is on the "Renegade" path.
