The combat and item management in the game can be very frustrating:evil:. The story and character interactions however is way above any standards set in any other game. If you can look past the first things I said you just might love this game. It took me about 45 hours to beat the game as a paragon.

Yes, Mass Effect is a VERY good game.

The graphics are great, though there are a few popping issues, and texture problems (nothing major).

The combat is incredible and allows you to pause the action (much like games like Ratchet and Clank) to change weapons or ready your biotics (spells).

The dialogue options allow you to make a nice or not so nice character or if you'd rather something in between.

There are some great and difficult decisions you will have to make along the way.

The voice acting and facial syncing is spot on (though sometimes the characters will say something dramatic in a less than dramatic voice).

The soundtrack is great and knows how to set th mood.

The world of ME is very deep and filled with lots of little things to investigate.

It is a really good game, and if you dont do a lot of side quests the game is suprisingly short. It kind of shocked me when it ended, just play the side quests as well.
