Mafia 2 demo thoughts?

Liking it, reckon it'll get 8.5 here on GS, like the whole 1940'5/50s style

I like it. I have played it on both the PS3 and 360 and I have to say it looks slightly better on the 360. I love the gameplay as well. Day one buy for me.

Honestly I was dissappointed in this demo. The gunplay felt weak and the cover mechanic is not smooth at all. Also I think you die way too quickly. I thought the voice acting and visuals were great however.

yeah you die very quickly but I liked that, makes its a bit more real not soaking up lots of bullets,

the cover mechanic wasnt exactly Uncharted or gears standard but it ll do, and slightly better than GTA's I reckon

the big problem this game has have would be GTA 4 and the city in GTA feels alot more alive than this one does, it can feel a bit empty at times in Mafia 2

I dont cause Uncharted 2 was similiar, and in both cases it forces you to use cover and keep on the move

The pc version of the same demo runs flawlessly. I honestly think that they're trying to do too much with the engine and the xbox just can't cope. It dips to around 10fps when you walk past smoke! Why the hell have they included ambient occlusion? This is the sort of graphical frill you drop so you can maintain a steady framerate.

It looks and performs horrendously. I love my xbox but I'm definitely getting this one for the pc.

Presentation was great,but the gameplay was downright boring.Don't weven get me started on the car controls and handling... [spoiler] Makes GTA IV's car controlslookclose to perfection... [/spoiler]

looks good if you ask me, graphics arent the best out there but its not like they are terrible by any stretch either, i see people complaining about framerate drops and screen tear, i didnt experience either of those things, game ran smooth the entire demo

*SPOILER ALERT FOR ANYONE WHO HASN'T PLAYED THE DEMO AND DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS*

You get 10 mins worth of free roaming the city (as usual with open-world game demos, it's only a small section of the city that you get to play in) before you have to go to the mission marker to start the mission. The mission (which won't be in the retail in this context) is based around wacking some guy. They turn up in black cars, which you thenproceedto use an MG gun on to kill the goons outside. The guy you're after flees in to abrewery(I assumed it was abrewery... someone correct me if I'm wrong). You fight your way to the top, then kill the guy you were after. As you're leaving, the building starts getting attacked and you have to avoid the explosions etc. and fight your way back out. Once you leave, you have to drive one of your people to a hospital because he got hit. Demo ends with you getting blocked in by cops chasing you on a highway and having seemingly no way to escape.

I've only played it on the PC so far, and the only complaints I have are the controls. The cars drive horribly and on the PC, I find the controls difficult to work with.

Only problem is that this game comes out on the first week of school...

I will get it for the Playboy magazines, lovely 60s softcore porn. But yeah, it's out here on my second week of school, so, yeah :(

I liked it too and it's on my holiday shopping list.

Pretty good indeed... I enjoyed the demo... No complaints besides a few low frame rate spikes.

I think it will get a 8.5 on GameSpot and a 8 on IGN.
