For having my 2nt rrod in the past year I would like to have something that could stop the overheating or slow down the overheating. I was thinking about buying the intercooler when I got GTA IV, because I know I would play the heck out of it and I did. Three days after I got GTA IV I got the rrod.

So is the Xbox 360 Intercooler safe (will not melt to the Xbox), or should I use something other then the Nyko cooler?

P.S. The Xbox is in a good spot so that the air will have someplace to go other then the Xbox it's self.

Thank you for your help ahead of time.

i like it bro. i bought it when i bought my 360 and i have had no problems with it. that being said i will give you a couple of tidbits i have found. get it a place where plenty of air can get behind it (i put mine ontop of entertainment center instead of in it) because it does expel alot of heat. second the intercooler is kinda loud, but it has 2 fans so u get what you get. like i said i liked it and would buy it again. best thing i bought besides the charging station.

Being me, I'm super cautious with my 360, so I decided not to buy any intercooler. My A/C is on most of the times. I play my 360 3-4 hours non-stop( sometimes). Haven't gotten rrod :). Praise the A/C! :o

I'm pretty sure the Intercooler voids your warranty. It damages the prongs or leaves marks or something on the inside of the power plug part of the 360.

I have this thing about not trusting the intercooler since i heard some just make the heating worse. Plus i have also heard it does in fact void your warranty.

The intercooler can void your warranty. Not only that, but all it does is put two fans over the existing ones already in the system so it is making them work harder and wearing them down quicker. The fact that all the intercooler does is put fans over another fan means it really does nothing. It is not giving your system another place to vent the hot air it is just sucking the hot air out the same place it already does without the cooler.

Get a fan to circulate the air so the system is not just blowing hot air out only to suck it right back into the system.

This intercooler worked gr8 for me for the 1st 2 weeks. Soon the piece of s**t begins to melt and overheat your xbox, completely contradicting its goal. It RROD'd my 1st 2 xboxs. I threw the crap away on my 3rd nd have been playing much more with less sound and heat.

That still does not change the fact that all it does is put fans over fans. For an example of how that is useless, try taking two box fans and putting one in front of the other and see if you notice any difference. You don't. The same can be said for the intercooler putting a fan over the 360 fan.

How did that intercooler come from that 360? The connector is backwards. Do you see?

How about the Pelican XBOX Fan? It looks like it sits under the XBOX and is powered by the USB port.

I just use a 6" fan that blows at a angle. This way it blows cool air thru the small holes and right out the back so it pretty much acts like a intake fan. Makes my 360 so much cooler.
