Hi, I bought my Xbox 360 Arcade a month ago so I could get Gears of War 2. I finally got it for Christmas, popped in the disk and started playing Horde. Like 10 minutes in I get an error saying that the disk is unreadable. I take out the disc and cleaned it, but I kept on getting the message. When I looked at the disc, it looked like there was a cloudy stain inside of it. So I return the disc yesterday for a new one. When I made the return for the new disc, the guy took the new disc out of the case and he saw a stain. He said that it should work fine though. I get home and play the game. A half an hour later I get the error message again. I know that the problem is not my Xbox because all of the other games/DVDs/Cds I have played on it have never given me the error message. So does Epic have a bad batch of discs going around, or is the problem actually my Xbox? Thanks in advance.
Oh, I get the DVD drive in which the laser burns into my disks. My luck, right? I have a faulty CoD 4 disk, and I can't play Skate. And it just so happens to be one of the 1% of all consoles. so yes. it happens to me.
i have the same problem... i just got my Xbox a week ago and got GoW2 yesterday and in the first 15 minutes of playing BANG !!! got the error... I've been playing Fable 2 with no problems since i got the console, it looks like is not a hardware issue, because many people have exchanged the GoW2 disc from a new one to another and the situation persists, also happens in old and new (out-of-the-box) Xbox. :(
My Dead Space has a huge clouded area but it works just fine, and NFS Undercover is brand new out of the box and I got 1 or 2 messages to clean it during my playthrough. I would suggest cleaning ur xbox's cache maybe that'll work.
To clear the cache on the Xbox 360 do the following:
Go to the Xbox Dashboard, select the System Blade, and select Memory.
I had this problem recently with my Lego Batman at first, then it started happening with my other disks after a month or so. My Xbox RROD'd a week ago. This is the second time it has happened and both times I got the unreadable disc error a month or so before it happened. it might be your Xbox is about to die.
I got GoW2 used from GS about a month ago and this never happened to me and I've logged many hours already, maybe it's because I install all my games to my HDD. I suggest you do the same and see if the problem persists.
