Would Microsoft hold on to that credit card and automaticlly renew Xbox Live. Because I really hate that, I go though phases with online gaming. Sometimes I'll play online for a month and then nothing for like 2 months. So I only like to buy the 3 month cards when I want to play online for a while.

This is what has been keeping me from buying alot of arcade games on my Xbox. So I've just been buying them all on my other system which gives you the option of deleting your card information. I know Microsoft claims you can do it from there website, but a friend of mine has has a problem with that.

once you enter your credit card info and buy the points, go onto xbox.com and go to your account and you can turn off Automatic Renewing somewhere in there. Or you can take your credit card off your account completely.

You should be good. Ive bought many arcade games and my live never auto renewed. Also you can buy microsoft point cards if you are still worried and want an arcade game. The only time i think it auto renews is if you buy xbox live with the credit card.

I understand your concern - to be on the safe side, purchase points at your local retailer.

Yes if you're concerned about your credit card info this is the safest way.

No gold will NOT I repeat WILL NOT Auto-renew if you add a credit card to purchase a full-game or XBLA game or even purchase points, it will only auto-renew if you buy a gold membership with it, and will renew for whatever plan you choose, like 12-month=every year, three months-every three months, and so forth. I should know I bought 1600 points for myself on the second and 400 points earlier today. I always purchase my Gold membership through a card at a local retailer because my first XBL account I canceled the auto-renewal and the rep didn't cancel it and my card expired so it auto renewed and my account could never be recovered. SO word of advice never auto-renew unless you plan ahead.
