I've tried unplugging eveything and removing harddrive, still comes up with E74 error, hardware failure.

So as im not under warranty, how much does it cost to send off and get repaired?

Or is there some magical solution to this problem?

If thats the message that comes up in all those different languages then you system is pretty much finished. I got that message about two months ago and your only choice is to send it in for repairs.

your system is dead, so you might as well call MS. i dont think that the warranty will work for it since it is only 1 red light, so you may want to try to "make" it get 3 red lights lol, with the towel trick or something.

It still might be under warrenty, give the service number a call, Microsoft extended the warrenty to 3 years. As for the one red light and the number, when you callthe number, youcan tell themwhat is on your screen and it tells them what the specific hardware malfunction is in your 360

Actually one red ring can mean many things, it all depends on the error code you receive. Microsoft only covers one red ring for one year so since your 360 is from 2005 basically be ready to fork up $99. I recently got the one red ring with the same error code but luckily I called up ms about it and they told me my warranty was still good for three more days so basically I dodged a bullet there.

E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.

Here is a link to the microsoft support page concerning to one red ring.

Hope any of this helped.

lmao, TAKE YOUR OWN ADVICE........YOUR BOTH WRONG, 4 lights is not plugged in all the way, 2 is overheating, 1 can be many things including a bad cable, harddrive or general hardware failure

the fact that you are telling him to get it right, when your not even right is extremly ironic

I just get one red light too and I bought mine in 2005. I had to pay $100 dollars, it looks like the GPU fried in mine.

I just had the exact same thing happen to mine today. E74 system error code. I called microsoft and they had me remove all hardware (memory, controllers, etc.) then turn it back on. I still had the error come up so they told me it needed to be sent back for repairs, Which would cost $99. No warranty on this, the 3 year extended warranty only covers the three red lights problem.

Anybody know what may have caused this? I recently moved my xbox, so I had unplugged everything then hooked it back up, could I have done something wrong?
