uuuhhh...

Yeah HD-dvd will fail but it wont affect the 360 that much as Microsoft have already said that if it comes to that they would prob make a blue-ray add on.

So all is good.

Bringing the format war to the consoles was sort of a stupid idea to begin with. If the PS3 wanted to use the Blu-Ray format for its games, then so be it. I don't understand what was Microsoft's reason behind an HD-DVD add-on anyways, especially since they've been distributing movies digitally via XBOX Live Marketplace.

The add-on was just something to give consumers an option. Personally, if they really wanted to give everyone a true option, they should have made a HD-DVD and Blu-Ray add-on and released them both at the same time. Thats giving the consumers a REAL option. By making a HD-DVD add-on and not a Blu-Ray, they basically forced anyone that wanted Blu-Ray to look elsewhere. Adding a Blu-Ray add-on now would be cool and all, but its way too late to make a difference for people that already bought a PS3 JUST for the Blu-Ray player.

They weren't going to release a HD DVD and Blu Ray player to create a real option because Microsoft supported the HD DVD development and backed the format completely with Toshiba, as well as promoted it.

It doesn't. Because Sony is so completely engrossed in the development of Blu-Ray and the PS3 is so dependant on it, everyone has to make Microsofts support of HD-DVD out as some kind of format war that in actuality doesn't exist. Microsoft supported the HD-DVD format, thats it. Theyre not solely dependant on it. The fact that even Microsoft has hinted a Blu-Ray add-on isn't out of the question for the 360 should prove that. But people love a fight, and will make one up even when there isn't one there.
