I have a 20 gb and a 60 gb hard drive. The 60 is completely unused, and the 20 is on the brink of being full. My question is if I get the data transfer kit, can I transfer everything, including my xbox live gamertag? Help is appreciated.

When you use the data transfer kit, it transfers EVERYTHING to the new hard drive and wipes the old one clean of all data.

Is it worth it for $15 (+ shipping?) from microsoft or is there a reliable cheaper way to buy it?

Might take a bit longer, but it would be much cheaper to just use a flash drive

How can you do this? I have a 4gb flash drive, so that would not take that long in theory.

Configure it to your Xbox 360, go to all the items you would like to move and move them to the flash drive. Then transfer them to your other hard drive

I figured it out and am in the long process of transfering everything with a 2gb memory stick, because I didn't want to open my 4gb just for this, and it was not even on the compatible list. Many thanks to those who helped and saved me a decent amount of money.
