I was just looking at the new pictures of the Rock Band guitar the Fender Stratocaster and it made me contemplate which game I am going to get. Rock Band made by the trustworthy Harmonix or Guitar Hero III by Activision and Neversoft. Just wanted to know what other people were thinking about getting. I know Rock Band is about 200 dollars so I believe if neversoft was smart they would make thiers alot lower than that to appeal to people who don't know.
well i plan to get rock band with the drums since i have always wanted to play something similar to guitar hero but with the drums instead of the guitar.
With all the games coming out this year, I don't have the money for Rock Band. I plan on getting just the disc of GH3 and maybe getting a new controller in a future downtime.
If i don't have to buy a new controller for GH III, then GH III if it gets great reviews.. but if i have to buy a new controller for GH III, then i will buy neither cause i can just play the pile of games that i will buy this holiday season.
GHIII for me. Rock band looks like it may go the way of Steel Battalion with its price for all the instruments. Plus the idea of calling up your friends for "band practice" on a video game just sounds way too nerdy for me; I'd rather try to organize a real band.

depends on how many friends u have. if you have a lot of friends than rock band is a good choice but if u like to play by yourself than guitarherolll will be ur best bet:)
I say both cuz they're gonna have different track listings and I'm sure I'm gonna wanna play the songs on both of them. GH III is available to preorder at Gamestop adn EB Games. They have it in the system for 100 bucks. Its another bundle.
i donno yet, harmonix has had a special place in my heart since i played frequency and amplitude. but at the same time harmonix already layed down the foundation for GH so neversoft and activision can't really mess it up. plus rock band does sound kindda nerdy lol. i'll probabely get GHIII first and then maybe i'll get rock band later on.
for me, GH III is a must. I will definitely buy that one.I'm interested in Rock band for the multiplayer, but I want to see it first before I pick it up.
....I wonder what the drums will look like. I saw picture of what is thought to be the drumset in the new Game Informer. I don't even think it was that...just a concept of what it will be. I have no idea who I'm going to get to be the singer in my band...

I'll probably purchase both GH3 and Rock Band but in the end from my viewpoint if you have the cash rock band has much more replay value and fun in the form of 3 peripherals, not just the restriction of the one found in GH3
Im gettin rock band just because its got one of my favorite all time songs "wanted dead or alive" by Bon Jovi. That made the sell right there. Plus it has Metallica and drums! Guitar Hero just seems to basic now.

Exactly. There's more to Rock Band than Guitar Hero. The only reason to get GH over Rock Band is based on its name.Which doesn't say much since Harmonix is behind Rock Band this time and not GH. I don't think we have to worry about the price structure much. If you want the game and all the instruments, then you can get the 200 dollar pack. Otherwise, there will more than likely be packs that include the game and one instrument that would be competitive with GH. I'd definitely choose Rock Band.
I would choose Guitar Hero 3 if I would buy one of them it seems to have a better song selection from what I have seen and Slash is in it how can you turn him down? But I would buy a different game than one of these if I were you, there are just so many good games coming out at the same time.
Bring on Rock Band. I already have Guitar Hero II and its fun in all but GH III will be just the same, except for new songs. Having drums too will be fun and good pratice too, I found with Guitar Hero even though its not like playing a real guitar it helps with speed and finguring. And maybe the Rock Helps too :)
