everytime I put in the disc, there's this lound noise that sounds like the disc is rubbing against something. After the 360 startup, it goes away. What's wrong?

Check the bottom of your discs for circular scratches. This is a common issue with xboxes. I would get it fixed/replaced under warranty.

There are only 2 things that can make the noise - the dvd drive or there is 1 bank of fans. The fans are at the back though. Fans can make noise at startup but that would be when you turn the system on and then it would calm down or be constant. If it happens every time you inject a disc then it is obviously your ROM drive and I wouldn't trust my game discs in it.

I never had that problem. Mine did rev up quite a bit then a few days later it died. Poor Xbox. I got a new one that works fine now though

every things ok. i have the same problem. the reason for my grinding noise came from opening the disk drive with something blocking the it, stopping it from opening all the way. so maybe you or someone else did the same thing i did.

It makes that sound when it is hungry. Try making a ham sandwich and inserting it in through the DvD port. Give it at least one hour to digest before playing.

I hear that peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches work better.
