My old Xbox is slowly going into that great scrap pile in the sky, so I figure now I should finally upgrade my Xbox to a 360. I just recently heard about this new Elite package that is coming out, and now I'm torn between whether I should wait for the Elite or just get a Pro and have that. The bigger HD and HDMI do look appealing, but if I could get these upgrades later onto my Pro, should I just go out now and get the cheaper pro, or is it worth the added wait, price, and possible stress in trying to get the new Elite. Just an FYI, most recently I've been through the fun task of trying to find a Wii in stores, so I really don't feel like having to drive all around to find one. I plan on buying it at a Gamestop because I'm going to trade in my old box and GC to put towards the purchase of whatever 360 I buy.

seriously, you can't come up with the answer yourself?

It has a bigger hard drive and HDMI port, if you want either of those things wait, if you just want a black one and you're crazy, get Elite, if you're not crazy, get Pro... Also the pro will never get a bigger HDD and HDMI port, Microsoft have been very clear about it, for some reason they want 3 machines on shelves

Now you couldn't of done the research and decide for yourself, don't go into a store not knowing what you want, cause you'll come out with something you don't need

yeah I'm starting to get the vibe that the Elite may be the way to go... I mean I was looking at the Xbox Live Marketplace (another FYI, I'm out of touch of any 360 news and knowledge) and if a HD movie is like 5+ gigs, and the 360 already takes up alot of space with stuff it needs to function (so I've heard,) I have to imagine that many Pro people are constantly deleting and trying ot save space on their 20 gig drives (Jeeze M$, didn't the later Xboxes come with 20 gigs standard too?)

I am doing the research here. As I said, I know little to nothing about the 360s, so I figured going to a forum that talks exclusively about Xbox 360 might be a good place to start. Yes, on paper the Elite looked like a better bargain, but I'm not looking to spend any extra money that I don't need to or that will not benefit me greatly later.

coming from a guy who doesn't have an HD tv and who only uses his 360 4 games only, i would say get the pro cuz look at it, if u don't have a hdtv/or don't plan 2 in the near future HDMI is totally USELESS, and games saves (only) do not take up 20 gigs yet (trust me i know from experience) so 2 answer ur question from a soley gamers point of view w/o a hdtv no u don't need an elite

Well that's the thing.. I have an HDTV that is about to be replaced because of geometry issues, and I must say that I have seen the light of HDTV.. and I will do whatever it takes to take full advantage of it.

On another topic I"ll just be glad to get a Xbox that works better. My current one has problems with Halo 2.. and sometimes it takes upwards of 10 attempts for it to boot up properly. I don't like having to wait when I have a Halo 2 cravin..

Music, game demos, movies (It's impossible to only have 20 gigs worth of those things when there are so many more things to come out).

If you want HDMI and 120GB HDD get Elite. If not save yourself the extra dollars.

wait.  if u ever get a tv with an hdmi port u can use it, assuming u don't already have one.  plus the bigger hard drive will never hurt.  it'll actually save u money than buying a premium 360 and then upgrading ur HDD

Only get the Elite if you have a HDTV that is larger than 50" and supports 1080p.  Also make sure that you will be watching movis and TV through youxbox and downloading everything that comes out.  Otherwise get the prmium.
