Not even what this is about...Pitting them would be asking which is better. Can't do that because they aren't similar...like you said. BUT, asking which will outsale the other has nothing to do with what genre the game is, or their similarities; just their hype and fan base.
Gears is by far the better franchise, only problem is that as Gears of War 2 will come out this year probably Novemberish it didn't have a 3 yr. pre-order program like H3. It's pretty hard to match sales of a game that claims years of pre-orders as day one sales. Who cares about sales, unless you have stock in Epic it dosn't really matter - all that matters is that Gears owns. Besides, if COD4 was able to make people forget aboot H3 in a couple of weeks, imagine what Gears will do.
i think it could be close to a tie.......i hate halo 3 unless im playing team swat cuz having to drain peoples shields is just a load of bs. gears 2 will no doubt be the better game IMO.

I love Halo 3 and COD4 so it didn't make me forget it. Anyway it's hard to tell like how good it'll be. It's not hyped as much as Halo 3 so i don't think it'll sell as many but who knows if it gets raving reviews it might just beat it.
One game isn't even out yet. I'm a huge gears of war fan and although the gameplay looks amazing there is no telling how the stories compare, not to mentoin the fact that....oh yeah, one fo the games isnt even out yet!
They both have great gameplay and graphics but when it comes down to it Gears 2 will most likely prevail. I'm not saying this because i don't like halo. Halo is probably one of my favorite shooters but I think gears will sell more because it is simply more new.

wow i didnt know gta 4 outsold halo nevermind by that much. but i still dont think gears will outsell halo...although it deffinatly getting a lot of hype so its possible.
i know a lot of people who didnt/dont like gears. i personally like halo better because i prefer fps over third person or over the shoulder or w.e u call it. but the atmosphere in gears and the graphics and the poppin heads were really cool

True there are more Halo Fan boys than Gears. I like the game alot when I first got it. I personally got board of gears after a while, which bothers me because I like that kind of game? If the Single player is improved than yeah I'll get it. The brutatlity was great but i just got board of it and started playing Halo again. I do think it will sell well not due to quality, but the fan base. I'm probably getting it, if I have time for another game.
