There's a bit more info to run through in terms of the tech improvements and gameplay. For those anxious to know the tech stuff going on under the hood of the game, we offer a small laundry list of features being implemented in the latest version of Epic's Unreal Engine. The engine now features a what's what of tech speak that includes ambient occlusion, improved character lighting, improved shadow lighting, liquid dynamics, soft body physics, a new fracture system, a new decal system that marks the world with your handiwork, and enhanced world detail. On top of the hard tech enhancements, the Gears 2 art team is taking advantage of the new engine and adding a host of touches, such as higher res characters, weapons, and enemies, as well as detailed blood decals and tracers. This all adds up to a better looking game although, to be fair, all this stuff may not jump out at you initially. The game retains the same overall look as its predecessor, although we've already seen a greater variety in environments, which naturally lend themselves to a broader color palette.

A lot of new gameplay changes not only make a visceral game even more visceral (thus the "badder" part of the equation here), but they just plain make sense, too. Would-be lumberjacks will have a lot more gut-ripping fun with the Lancer in Gears 2, but at the same time, they won't be invulnerable like they were before. Other new moves like wall hugging, the ability to interrupt doorway "SWAT" turns, being able to crawl to safety while bleeding out, and a ton of new execution **** give the game more realistic combat options.

IGN Multiplayer Preview 2.0 (Bigger, better, and more badass)

Yup, we can confirm, the violence has remained intact. Something, in our sensitive Manhunt and prostitute-swording times, Cliffy's quick to defend: "The violence is slapstick. It's fun, not nauseous. These are ridiculously large space marines cutting lizards in half!" Locust now have individual finishing animations, and they are cool and varied. Rather than just stepping on heads, you get COGs kneeing enemies in the chest, flipping them over and curb stomping. Sometimes a downed enemy takes multiple fists to the face till it's just meat, and "meat fest" is the only way to describe grenade sticks – which you can also now do in a retaliatory nature from beyond the grave. Nice touch. Get downed, and you can beg for mercy from your opposition. Hmm… what do you think?

I like the sound of a Locust tearing a COG's arm off and beating him with it an an execution. Sounds amazing.

Looks like they finally added some color. Shades of brown and grey annoyed me in the first Gears of War.

The graphics look a lot better. Can't wait to play this in co-op. I had some pretty good times with the first one.

• Removed host advantage
• Removed "one-shot down" snipes
• Added 5 vs. 5 MP
• Longer campaign; supposedly 2x original
• Deeper story
• 4-Player online co-op (unannounced)
• New executions
• Improved roadie run
• Online bots with smart AI system
• Chainsaw duels
• Matchmaking/Party system (Halo 3 style)
• Added weapons (Flamethrower!)

I mostly excited for the new campaign. But on the multiplayer side, I'm intrigued by the 4 player co-op and no more "one-shot down" sniper kills.

Im getting Oblivion GOTY today and i'm also pre-ordering Gears 2 and Left 4 Dead, ill be set for the next couple of years ( mabye only a year, we'll see how it goes ), not counting ds, im getting spore for the ds 0.0

Wow. This game is looking absolutely amazing. It has almost everything that I wanted, the new maps looks awesome, and the ones with the guns that detect movement. Proximity grenade wall tagging, a flamethrower, new executions. The new pistol looks deadly too. Meatflag looks awesome too, cant wait to try that out. Oh I hope november gets here soon.gustavog117

My only problem with the proximity grenades is I hope there is someway for players to know what they're about to run in to. Like maybe a subtle beep or something.

The gameplay footage of one of the campaign missions is breathtaking. This is a whole 'nother Gears of War game. Environments are mind-blowing. I cant wait for November.Elann2008

Haha yeah, I saw that too and you get to fight some other big bosses like it in Horde I think, from IGN is where i read it.
