abandon single player and just make a multiplayer game only (like MAG, which i believe is a multi p-only) at some point?

or at least sepetate the two and make 2 diff lines of the game? (one a strictly single player game with longer campaign and another one just focusing on online multiplayer game)

I doubt it. CoD's been running it's course like it has been for the past six years.

I feel the same way. The last time something happened like this would be...hmm...Quake III, I guess. That was a decade ago, though. Changing Call of Duty would be a pretty radical departure. In today's industry, radical departures from the norm with a major seller are anathema to publishers.

Well the campaigns are usually action-packed and over the top, so that leads me to believe that the developers actually have fun and its not a chore for them to make the campaigns for COD. Also as the poster above me stated, changing the way a product is manufactured this late into the series is a big no no. Which is why Activision doesn't want the Call Of Duty name to dropped as well, as It could affect sales.

Besides...we know gaming in general will be dead when games start getting shipped without campaigns lol.:P

One word - no. They'd be losing a little of their fan-base who play the immensely fun (while it lasts) single-player and don't have online. Yeah, the storylines usually crap, but the set-pieces are amazing.

Hmm, I don't think I'd get it if there was no campaign. The story is pretty cool, so yeah. :D

I could see IW doing that... don't think Treyarch would though.

Abandon the single player campaign? Why?

The multi-player certainly isn't enough to make the sales the MW2 did...I certainly wouldn't have bought it just to play map after map of campers and snipers.

If the next Call of Duty game was on-line only, I would rent only, but certainly not buy.

If they make the COD series multiplayer, I hope very much that they'll still make single-player games.

Like if they split into separate single and multiplayer series'?

I don't think i'd get cod without single player, as if it stays like MW2 online, it would be noob friendly 100% of the time

I see what u did there

To be honest, I reckon it would be Treyarch if anyone to make such a stupid move that would probably affect fan-base and sales. Infinity Ward have produced the better games, had the better concepts etc. IW should know better then not to do that I reckon, just my opinion.

I hope not the only good part of Call of Duty anymore is the Single Player.

that is like the second thing i wrote, that if they might in the future make 2 series, one just single player and the other just multi. i dont thinkit would be crazy. cause im sure people just get it for single player and like how most people get it for multi. and if they split it up, they could make the single player longer 15-20 hour game instead of 5-6 hours

Battlefield 1943 was multiplayer only, cost $15, had three classes and three maps and I played it for dozens of hours.

If the multiplayer portion of the next COD/MW was released as stand-alone, fully featured $20-25 dollar DLC, Id say it would sell buckets.

EDIT: Though personally, I enjoy the single player and Spec-Ops so would definitely go with the box copy.

Dear God no! The formula works perfectly right now and any attempt to mess with that would be wrong. Personally I think a 15-20 hour single player campaign would really wear thin and get tiresome.

I value single player over multi player...I don't think they would ever get rid of single player cause it would alienate non competitive players

If they did, which I doubt, it would most likely alienate alot of those gamers who have followed the series from the start. Also not quite sure why they would benefit from abandoning SP.

If the rumors that Infinity Ward isn't going to be developing Modern Warfare 3, and instead Sledgehammer Games (ex-Dead Space developers) will be undertaking the project are true? Nope.
