Do you get a $1 for 1 month of XBL promotion every time your XBL Gold expires?

Every time my XBL expires, there's a new $1 for one month or $2 for 2 months promotion on the Xbox homescreen.

I've had my 360 since January this year and paid a whopping $6. Pretty cool!

I don't always see that one. But there is always some deal on my dashboard. Last time it was 3 months for $13. If I trusted my credit card on there I would probably have taken advantage of it. But I just recently got a year for $35 on Amazon. So I'm happy.

But you can turn auto renewal off right after you buy it.

Yes. Last month, I got the 2 months for 2 dollars. I wonder if they'll run this for the whole year.

I have a feeling it's used as an incentive to get you to "renew" your gold membership. Therefore if your membership runs out and you don't see that deal yet, just be patient. I've never had gold in the last 2 years for more than a dollar a month (notwithstanding the applicable taxes of course).
