can i transfer xbox save files to a pc?

hey

basically what the title says.

i want to be able to put my saved games and things as such onto a pc so when i get a new 360 from a store i can just transfer it all back.

is there a way to do this or not?

You can buy a transfer kit to do this but I dont think you can without it.
