Buying xbox games with xbox gold

So say I buy xbox live, and then I buy a game that is cheaper with gold. So like a game is regularly $50 but with gold it is $25. If I lose my membership and don't renew it, do I still keep the game?

Yeah even with the free games for gold you can still play them if your membership runs out, unlike psn which locks them.

Yea thats good although some microsoft policies are so bizarre that this seems like a good thing when it should never be considered to be anything else
