As far as the campaigns go (not sure about MP, I only care about SP), all 3 are excellent. You can't really go wrong with any of them... get them all :)

@michaelh: because of your selection of games you listed can i assume you dont have a Xbox one? If you do have a xbox one then get The Master Chief collection. Then get Reach and H5.

They are all great, but if you can only get one, I recommend getting Reach. It has, in my opinion, the best campaign in the series. Also, check out Halo Wars. It's not the same as the rest of the series, but it is a really unique game for console owners.

@Black96Z: Do what he said. If you're getting or just got an X1 you might as well get the Master Chief collection. Halo 1-4 are all on it. Then you can buy Reach from the Xbox store or cheaper physically. Get Halo 5 and get involved with the best MP FPS on consoles.

@michaelh: firefight mode in ODST is harder to me. Is that why you like it better? I enjoyed Reach campaign the most too. Hope you eventually join the xbox one Halo generation

Single player:Halo:Reach

Multiplayer:Halo 5

Halo:Reach also has great Multiplayer as well. You honestly can't go wrong with neither of them, both are Classics.

Halo 2 for me. I thought it had the best story. But Halo 3 ODST had such a great atmosphere that it would be a close second.

I really enjoyed playing Halo reach with my buddies online. The armor abilities were a nice addition in my opinion.

Two great games in their own way. Logged so much time on Halo Reach.

I've never actually played Halo: Reach, but I've played all the others. Is the campaign really that good for it?

All three campaigns are excellent in my opinion. Halo 3 is, in my opinion, my favorite, but if you haven't played Halo 1 or 2 you'll be left a little wanting. Halo Reach is just excellent. The stakes are high and it's a good challenge at higher difficulties. Halo 4 is divisive. I love it, but it's a lot less open and just more focused in its story.

I don't believe you can go wrong with any of them.

No, no it's not.

I personally don't think it would be a bad thing if Halo 6 returned to this formula... especially after the 5's convoluted campaign.
