I am planning to buy the arcade version, which has no HD. Can I play games like other players who own a HD?

I'd recommend the HD...like highly recommend it. You can still play games but you'll regret it later. Also, installing certain games to your HD is much better than running off of the disk

its more of a reccomended practice than a necesary one. not every xbox owner has a big enough hard drive or too many games, its a good idea to install your most used games to prevent damage.

Not exactly just to prevent damage, but it just runs smoother...that's what I aim for, I don't worry about my disks getting damaged.

Only if you want to play Last Remnant you need the install for that game or its completly broken. You should invest in a decent HDD tho they are worth it but installing any other game is kinda pointless considering you need the disc and the read speed of the drive isfast

You install a game to your HD but you need the disc to be in to play it. It reduces heat and disc drive has to work less so it's good for the drive and disc. It also makes your xbox 360 quieter.

and how much space does this take up .. like generally on a game by game basis?

For some games it seems like it is that way ... for others, not so much

no u dont have install games but there is games with extra stuff u have to downlaod to use it but w/e that out the way.................. i really highly suggest geting 60gb+ like 4real in every way i promise your going to regret it. no hardrive limits u to much..... half the games i know of u need download free maps and bla bla to play online then there so much stuff your going to want to download u wont be able to. there like over 150 demos but u wont be able download. dont buy no games that has dlc because u wont be able use it..... installing games is great for your xbox needs makes your xbox run at lower heat helps your dvd drive from less wear and tea. then mic that dont come with arcade cost 25 bucks... without a mic why not just play with the computer. then oo u have hd t.v? well arcade only comes with the standerd cables so only red white yellow

It is not necessary to install a game to HD I dont have a single game installed because of the space issue, and I'm fine.

i would no it isn't necessary but it is a good idea. some games loads faster, the xbox is quieter. that is good reason why it is good for installing.

Well, I have a spare HDMI cable I could connect to the HDTV.
