If you get a brand new Elite then it'll last for at least 2 years without even thinking of dying. TaintedSaint666
Not true.
All of the 360's are prone to RROD still.
my launch core system just RROD'd and is gettin fixed and i was thinkin about trading it in after for the elite. my question is, am i guaranteed to never get RROD again with an elite with the FALCON chip? i've heard ppl say the new FALCON chip/motherboard doesnt help much at all?
also if anyone knows the elite console failure rate could u please tell me?
thanks33WUPP1
The failure rate is the same as a normal 360, only diffrence is the elite is black and has a 120gb hdd
It runs a lot more smoothly and hasn't given me any problems yet, and it has been well over a year now.
My core system died before this point..
The falcon chips do help my buddy got an elite with a falcon chip and not a single problem. I've been lucky as all hell I still have my launch console from 2006 and it works just fine, never once have I had RROD or anything like it.TheRevanent
This is another thing I'd like to note:
A lot of people saying "Oh yeah I have a launch console" If you didnt get your console in November of 2005, there's a large chance it isnt a launch console.

Actually, we had ours less than a year before we had to get it replaced and it was new. It depends on how you use it and how well you take care of it. He played ours so much that the chip got too hot and burned up. This has happend to us twice in a years time. If you are a hard core gamer you should take every measure to make sure you processor does not over heat reguardless of the system you buy.
the rate among the new chipsets is around 10%, whereas the early systems are around 50% now, if not higher since the last published numbers. so your chances are much smaller but still there.luigismansion101
I was told by the guy that works at Gamestop (frequent customer) that I should get the new chip because, as mentioned before, we had trouble with the chip overheating. He said that it was more durable then the original chip and, with our history, would be a beneficial upgrade to our console. He told me that the new chip was designed to take the heat of professional gamers.
