If you get a brand new Elite then it'll last for at least 2 years without even thinking of dying.

Not true.

All of the 360's are prone to RROD still.

the rate among the new chipsets is around 10%, whereas the early systems are around 50% now, if not higher since the last published numbers. so your chances are much smaller but still there.

It runs a lot more smoothly and hasn't given me any problems yet, and it has been well over a year now.

My core system died before this point..

...It's also black, and everyone knows that black hardware is more cutting edge. Otherwise, it would be white...

dude you should get that elite. its such a better system than the pro and it has true HD up to 720p that looks great. Also keep in mind that the RROD appears if your using 3rd party installments like the cooler or other attachments.

The falcon chips do help my buddy got an elite with a falcon chip and not a single problem. I've been lucky as all hell I still have my launch console from 2006 and it works just fine, never once have I had RROD or anything like it.

This is another thing I'd like to note:

A lot of people saying "Oh yeah I have a launch console" If you didnt get your console in November of 2005, there's a large chance it isnt a launch console.

I don't know about this RROD business. I mean I know it happened to lots of people, but I know at least over 50 people who have 360 just in my area and NONE of them has evern had the RROD problem. So guys don't worry. You chances of getting an RROD 360 is slim, especially if you guys buy one now.

It's still the same thing, meaning all 360s are prone to getting RROD one time or another. It's like it's all random when it happens and it can never be foreseen. It happened to me 4 times and they were all random times spanned out.

Actually, we had ours less than a year before we had to get it replaced and it was new. It depends on how you use it and how well you take care of it. He played ours so much that the chip got too hot and burned up. This has happend to us twice in a years time. If you are a hard core gamer you should take every measure to make sure you processor does not over heat reguardless of the system you buy.

I was told by the guy that works at Gamestop (frequent customer) that I should get the new chip because, as mentioned before, we had trouble with the chip overheating. He said that it was more durable then the original chip and, with our history, would be a beneficial upgrade to our console. He told me that the new chip was designed to take the heat of professional gamers.
