I've got a question. I recently bought a 24" Monitor with a res of 1920x1200. I use my computer and 360 on the monitor. When I try to run my 360 at 1080 the picture goes off the screen and I have to "scroll" over to see it. When I press the button on my mointor to see the res settings it says its at 1280x1024...

So my question is why cant I use a 1080 res on a monitor that has a native res of 1920x1200?

because your native res is different than what the 360 is trying to output. i had the same problem with my 20 inch syncmater 206w. never did figure out how to get it to display the right information.

Did you check to see if your monitor supported that res? Surely you checked ahead of time right?

Did you try any other resolutions? Try a few others and see if they work better. You've got a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor, and unfortunately there aren't any resolution options with the VGA cable that are 16:10, all of the widescreen options are 16:9. I would try 1360x768, see how that works. Also, there should be something in your monitor's menu called "auto adjust", or something along those lines. Some monitors even have a button for it. Use that, it should scale the picture so that it will fit your monitor. The good news is that its rumored that 16:10 support through VGA may be added in the new spring update. Until then, you'll have to make do with one of the resolution options. However any sctretching from the scaling shouldn't be too noticeable. Remember to find that auto adjust, it should do the trick.

Sounds like you'll need to run it in 720p, it has something to do with using VGA on your monitor.

Sadly the 360 doesn't support 1920*1200.  Its 16:10 and the 360 doesn't support that resolution at this time.

The Xbox 360 does support 16:10. If you have the VGA cable set it to output 1280x768 (16:10) and you'll be fine as far as aspect ratio is concerned. Your monitor will handled the scaling. The other option is to output 1920x1080 and set your monitor to 1:1 mode, in which case you'll have a little black at the top and bottom, but you won't have any scaling.
