The 360 being only a dvd player and not a high definition player, is this going to prove a problem with future games as they require more space and does anyone know whether Microsoft plan to do anything about it?

There really isn't much MS can do about it.

I think all 360 games will be made on DVD, so if the game is large, it'll just have mulitple discs. Only other option would be forcing everyone to buy the HD add-on.

But I believe dual-layer DVDs can hold about 8gigs, so the games will have to be very large to require more discs or an HD disc.

I read an article a long time ago that claimed that the rate of compression technology is far outgaining the size or growth of games so it looks like it's not that big of a deal. You can always go multi-disc if you have to though.

The discs they currently use (DVD-9) can hold 9gb's, so i think the size is big enough for now.

If a game is too big just use multiple discs. They could always fit the SP campaign portion of the game on one disc and put the MP portion on the other disc. That would work great. That's only if a game is too big to fit on one disc. Bioshock is 15-20 hours long and it fits on one disc.

I think if Mass Effect fits on one disc, they should be fine with the DVD drive.

I read somewhere that Rockstar said it's a problem for GTA's. It got me a bit concerned. What about 3 or 4 years down the line?

If the games get to big, you get multiple discs.
