In the past games could upgrade their limits to 1250 GS.

Then came Halo and now has a possible score of 1750.
Today I noticed Gears 2's new max is 1450.

What do you think of these increases?

I personally like it. :D
Can't wait to have a game with redicilously high total GS's. Still I think it shouldn't exceed 2000 unless they accept more than a 1000 from a retail game straight from release.

Fallout 3 will soon be joining the over 1250 club. The Pitt will increase it to 1200, then the 3rd DLC is meant to add another 150, pushing the total to 1350 GS

Honestly.. like I said before in another forum, I think every game should have a different limit, enough with this 1000 gs limit, at first all games had like 50 achievements, and now they range, like from just the game disc, they have 50 and less achievements.. and they are not all worth the same amount of gs points

but yeah I hope they break 2000 gs points.. that would be awesome

I am all for finding new stuff to do and more gamerpoints to get. I get more bang for my buck when I buy a video game. Video games need to be played through and through before it gets sold or traded in.

It's interesting and nice. But it would be nice if Microsoft would publicly address it. Like are there some requirements to get these extra paoints? Exactly what is the new point limit and the new achievement number limit? So far the only games that have broken the limit are Halo 3 and Gears of War 2. Both are published by Microsoft. If what Avenger says is true though, I guess breaking limit isn't just limited to First part titles if Fallout 3 is going past 1250. Bethesda seems to have a good relationship with Microsoft. Maybe close companies can break the limit. Or maybe it's because the game has sold so well. We wont know until Microsoft spills the beans. Not to change the topic, but I'm surprised none of the Rockband, Guitar Hero and Call of Duty games have ever gone past 1,000 points. I'm sure throwing in some extra achievements would add incentive to getting their DLC. I wonder why they choose not to add new achievements.

As long as its not just minor games getting like 2000 then it's ok. Gears 2 and Halo 3 and Fallout 3 are all HUGE games and they have MULTIPLE DLCs so it is ok.

Variety is good. Only thing I don't like about them raising the gamerscores on games is that I know I won't buy map packs and DLC for some games so my completion % goes down a lot because I ahve not purchased all these new add ons. Other than that I like the idea.

There should be a cap on each individual achievement but none for the game.

The limit should definitely be over 1250. When games like Halo 3 have multiple $10 map packs, you want to get every penny's worth. MS throwing in 250 gamerpoints for every $10 pack increases the perceived value to us at no cost to MS. I don't think MS needs to even really discuss this. What is the point of saying there is a new limit when it gets changed 6 months from now. Same thing happened with XBLA size limits. At first it was 50 MB, then it was 150. Then they allow 400 MB and now we have things like Watchmen that is over 1 GB. Just don't even discuss a limit.

I am fine with it as long as you actually have to work to get the achievements. Like Halo and Gears there are actually multiple achievements to get. But if it is like 2000 points for 7 achievements then it wont do.

I don't think there should be a limit. If developers want to put in things that challenge people and reward them with gamerscore thats great. As long as it doesn't lead to stupid ones like "Press Start" or "Complete pass with Rex Grossman".

i whole heartedly agree, actually i rarely trade in games ever. im kind of the pack rat type who has trouble getting rid of any game because i know just as soon as i trade it in ill want to play it again. im also often times broke for months at a time so i keep what games i have and play through them over and over again
