If you think they're comparable games, you're wrong. One is an RPG and the other is a hack n slash adventure game. Both are worth owning, but it will all come down to which of these genres you like better.Gaming-Module
I agree. If you want a plot driven RPG, don't get Fable first. That is a big difference between the two. Also, I thought JE was easy until I played Fable. It is impossible to die in that game, like playing Lego Star Wars. But both can be a lot of fun.

The key to keeping Fable interesting is to nerf yourself a bit. If you're going to be a mage, avoid inferno, fireball, invulnerability. And if you want melee, be a more rogueish character focusing on yellow skills like speed, guile and accuracy. It's a lot like Morrowind in that you have to try to make it challenging. Playing as a mage specializing in inferno and fireball is like playing on "very easy" difficulty. Playing as a pure melee warrior is like playing on "easy." A rogue build or a carefully crafted mage can make the game infinitely more enjoyable.[QUOTE="SergeStorms"][QUOTE="Gaming-Module"]If you think they're comparable games, you're wrong. Much better fighting system, more memorable characters and the game is even longer.collective87^^^ True. JE seems easy until you turn the difficulty up, and then you'll actually understand how great the combat system is. BTW, whoever said that Fable's side quests are better, no offense, but WTF? I absolutely abhorred Fable's side quests. The prisoner one, the escorts, it was all just boring. And they were also made frustrating by the crappy lock-on. And Fable doesn't have as much replayability as Fable, imo. Fable takes 10 hours through, and I doubt that you'll be playing it more than 3 times. JE takes about 20 hours (Yeah, it's still short) through and you can play it 3 times through for each different ending. And Fable's story sucks compared to JE's. I know that's strong, but it's definitely true.
Although I had a great time with Fable, it was a bit on the very short and somewhat lacking side, so I'd say wait around for Fable: The Lost Chapters to come.
As for Jade Empire, it starts out a tad slow, then hits fast with a pretty cool story. It looks good and the controls are fairly easy to customize and fit into... I got a little bored with it after a while, but that is just something that happens with me. It is still an entertaining game.
which is better and why pleasedakilla229
I own both of the games and its a hard call. Fable has more good things to it than Jade Empire.
Why:
Length- Jade empire took a little over 12 hours to complete.(I don't like short RPG's)
I am still working on Fable, and it's seems like I've been playing it forever.
On jade empire, you have a choice of what you can say, but Fable lacks the amount of choices you can make.
On fable you can change into different clothing and armour and get a haircut, none of this is on jade empire.
also, when i was playing jade empire, it was SO short.
My verdict would have to be Fable, but Jade Empire is still a good game.
i would go for fable, personally because i like lionhead studios and secondly becouse i like the overall feell the game
I've never died on Fable. Not once. Never, ever died. Trickshot771

Just got through watching a video on G4 about originality in the industry today. Fable was mentioned as the only new IP of 2004 in the top 50 games. Now I believe that Fable diminished the potential of Jade Empire. Fable was hyped to hit as hard as FFVII. When it released, it was a half-a$$ed ripoff. Bioware wanted to simplify their presentation for the casual gamer. Someone who doesn't follow Bioware will see that Microsoft Studios logo and think about Fable, negatively. I read that Jade has sold a little over gold. Now the price is $20.
To answer to question of this thread. Jade Empire all the way.
Fable: The Lost Chapters
Positives: Graphics, Humor, Customization, Acting
Negatives: Story, Interactivity with people and environments, Battle system, Personality, Length, Music
