Does anyone know if the DVD player on the XBox is compatible with DivX movies?

The MS Xbox DVD player doesn't support DivX.

As far as I know it only plays DVDs and VCDs, you can always change your divx files to VCD, although it's a long process unless you have a pretty powerful machine and it will take about double the file size.

i played one divx dvd fine, i've got a phillips dvd drive (2003)

but the next one the screen froze about 10 mins in, and none since. so it won't play them reliably.

my best advice is any cd/dvd you want to play on the xbox, burn at the slowest speed possible, 2X for me.

Yeah that's true the lower the speed the more sure you are that the file your are burning looks good...

i've tried to play a few and couldn't get them to read, but that was a few years ago. the burning software now may make them more easily readable. idk
