MARCH MADNESS PREVIEW

It is that time of year again, spring. And what major event greets us along with the warming weather and the budding blossoms? Why it's March Madness!!! It's awesome baby!!! The year's tournament is wide open, the field is loaded and multiple teams have a realistic shot at cutting down the nets, a chance for their one shining moment....

 The Favorites

Louisville (29-5, 14-4 in Big East) - #1 in Midwest

Leading the overall #1 seed Louisville Cardinals is Senior PG Peyton Siva and two guard (SG) Russ Smith. Undoubtedly, Louisville has the strongest backcourt in the country, making the Big East Champions on of the favorites to win. And with the great coach Rick Pitino at the helm of the Cards, those odds to win are well within reach. Kentucky fans won't be too happy if the Cards bring the NCAA title back to the Bluegrass State.

Peyton Siva

Indiana (27-6, 14-4 in Big 10) - #1 in East

Indiana big man, Cody Zeller, is officially out of his big brother's shadow, former UNC Tar Heel Tyler. Along with outstanding SG, Victor Oladipo, the Big 10 regular season and tournament champs have their eyes set on Atlanta. Hoosier Head Coach Tom Crean, the brother-in-law of this year's Super Bowl head coaches John and Jim Harbaugh, will try to cement this as a triumphant year for him and his family.

Cody Zeller

Kansas (29-5, 14-4 in Big 12) - #1 in South

Rock Chalk, Jayhawk. A school rich in basketball tradition with the inventor of basketball James Naismith and legendary Phog Allen as former Jayhawk coaches. KU is primed for another run at the title. Head Coach Bill Self and his experienced bunch, with a tad bit of youth sprinkled in there by the name Ben McLemore, have a great chance at making it back to the Final Four in Atlanta

Ben McLemore

Duke (27-5, 14-4 in ACC) - #2 in Midwest

The Duke Blue Devils, the one team in America you either love or hate, has redemption on its mind after an embarrassing loss to a #15 seed in last year's tournament. With Hall of Fame Head Coach Mike Krzyzewski at the helm, and Seniors Mason Plumlee and Seth Curry (Golden State Warrior Stephen Curry's little bro) sharing the scoring load, Duke is on its drive for five titles.

Coach K and Seth Curry

 Contenders

Gonzaga (31-2, 16-0 in WCC) - #1 in West

The Zags can no longer come into the with a chip on their shoulder. The Zags are a #1 seed in a favorable regional, thus, have a real chance at making the Final Four. Mark Few's bunch will try to avoid heartbreaking mistakes previous Zags teams have made. Who can forget Adam Morrison bawling his eyes out? I surely can't and that's why I'll be rooting for the Zags in this tournament once Iowa State loses. Oh and don't forget about Zags' leading scorer, Kelly Olynyk's long locks -

Kelly Olynyk

Miami (27-6, 15-3 in ACC) - #2 in East

Miami, the mecca of basketball?!?!?! It is hard to believe these days but Miami basketball, both at the pro level and the college level, are at all-time highs. The Heat are on a 24-game winning streak and the Hurricanes just won the regular season and tournament crowns in the ACC, both firsts for the football power. Shane Larkin, the son of Hall of Fame shortstop Barry Larkin, runs point for the Cardiac Canes and like his father, will orchestrate the action out on the playing surface.

Shane Larkin

Florida (26-7, 14-4 in SEC) - #3 in South

Don't ever rule out the Gators in March. The Gators  6 years removed from the Back-to-Back titles but this Gator team is no pushover, the regular season SEC champions come into the tournament as the only real threat out of their conference at winning the whole thing. Will seniors Kenny Boynton and Erik Murphy deliver Head Coach Billy Donovan his third title at Florida? Who knows but the Gators sure do have themselves a favorable draw in their regional.

Kenny Boynton and Erik Murphy

Michigan State (25-8, 13-5 in Big 10) - #3 in Midwest

It's March and it's time for another deep tournament run for The Spartans. Head Coach Tom Izzo's bunch are built for March. Keith Appling and co. will have their hands full in the daunting Midwest Regional but for some odd reason, Izzo gets the most out of his players at this time in the year. Will the Spartans win their first title in 13 years? Maybe, but it will be a tough road to Atlanta.

Keith Appling

 Pretenders

Georgetown (25-6, 14-4 in Big East)

Patrick Ewing isn't walking through that door. Allen Iverson isn't walking through that door either. Again, John Thomson III will be leading another team which struggles to put the ball in the bucket into the tournament. JT3 will ask a lot from super Sophomore Otto Porter Jr. who will have to carry the scoring load for the Hoyas. However, this will be another year where Georgetown hits a snag in the tournament.

Otto Porter Jr.

New Mexico (29-5, 13-3 MWC)

The bracket is set up great for the Lobos to make it to the Sweet 16. They have early matchup with Harvard, luckily there isn't a guy name Lin on the Crimson. But the Lobos are in a position where they could get upset and the Mountain West Conference Champions need to be on their guard. Marksman Kendall Williams needs to shoot lights out from beyond the arc in order for the Lobos to make it deep into the tourney.

Kendall Williams

Wisconsin (23-11, 12-6 in Big 10) - #5 in West

Those pesky cheeseheads are back in the tournament once again. Head Coach Bo Ryan's squads are well known for their pesky defense but they are also known for their inept offense. Seniors Ryan Evan and Jared Berggrenare great at cleaning up the boards and will create havoc in the low post. However, their first game with Ole Miss will be quite the challenge when the Badgers go up against one of the best scorers in the nation, Marshall Henderson. Can Wisconsin survive past this first game? Only time will tell...

Ryan Evans and Jared Berggren

Saint Louis (27-6, 13-3 in Atlantic 10) - #4 in Midwest

The mighty Billikins come into the tournament as the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season and tournament champions. They went 5-0 this year against conference foes Butler and VCU which is quite the feat. However, they are in the same regional with elite programs Louisville, Duke, and Michigan State.... the odds of Saint Louis winning this aren't very good. They'll need monster play from Junior forward Dwayne Evans to advance in this tournament

Dwayne Evans

Cinderellas

VCU (26-8, 12-4 in Atlantic 10) - #5 in South

Two years ago, Virginia Commonwealth made the Final Four. Last year, they made the Sweet 16. Head Coach Shaka Smart's Rams score lots of buckets and play suffocating defense. Their guards are tough and are perfectly capable of pressing the full length of the court. Watch out for Senior guard Darius Theus and SophomoreBriante Weber to lock-down opposing guards, both average more than 2.5 steals per game. Look out, VCU is ready to shock the world once again.

Briante Weber (Left) and Darius Theus (Right)

Creighton (27-7, 13-5 in MVC) - #7 in Midwest

The Creighton Bluejays from Omaha, Nebraska....yeah, that school NBA marskman Kyle Korver made relevant a decade ago. With the nation's second leading scorer, Doug McDermott, clicking on all cylinders.... the Jays have a shot to get past their first weekend. Doug and his teammates, with superb coaching from his dad, Creighton Head Coach Greg McDermott, will need to have everything together in a potential second game opponent, Duke.

The McDermott's

Ole Miss (26-8, 12-6 in SEC) - #12 in West

The runnin' and gunnin' Rebels of Ole Miss made the field by winning the SEC tournament. They are led by loose cannon, Marshall "Slim Shady" Henderson. The boisterous marksman is ready to step up in the Big Dance and get ready for him to troll the current establishment. Wisconsin better watch out for the Rebels.

  Marshall Henderson trolling Auburn fans

Davidson (26-7, 77-1 in Southern Conference)

The Davidson Wildcats are located in the State of North Carolina. Surrounded by the likes of Duke, UNC, and NC State.... all schools that have won multiple NCAA basketball titles. But back in 2008, this guy name Stephen, pronounced Stefin, made Davidson a cinderalla. He led the Wildcats to the Elite 8 and they were a bucket away from reaching the Final Four. Stephen Curry is now in the NBA and no one player on Davidson can put up the scoring numbers of this man. Forwards Jake Cohen and De'mon Brooks are the leading scorers for the squad, but watch out for Nik Cochran, to go off beyond the arc.

Nik Cochran

ARE YOU READY FOR THE MADNESS?!?!

Since they use Dolphin Stadium (or SunLife Stadium or whatever they're called now), I doubt that it will happen unless the Dolphins leave the stadium.

I still hate to be at the U now, tho.

same here, this is actually the 1st year I've watched pre-season, just because mainly the lockout I missed it so much I tend to zone out and lose track once the starters are taking out but some of the games have been good, can't wait til the regular season starts!

Short answer: no.

Long answer: I know quite a few people that actually like the Busch Brothers...some are more willing to admit it than others.
