I do not agree with the resistance part, but the mastery part is true.

Sometimes resisting fear is worse. Face it! Don't resist it.

I only have this to say: Anatidaephobia

Those who read Gary Larson should have heard of this... This quote is quite true, ever heard of: Are you brave or just stupid?

Damnant quod non intellegunt - They condemn what they do not understand. Anonymous.

Phobophobia - The fear of fear, you are afraid of being scared.

How do you face your fear when you fear being scared? I have a feeling all the berserkers of legend had phobophobia.

It seems quite right.   Courage, acting even though one is afraid, is resisting the attempts of fear to contain you.   Mastering fear means you can deal with it almost without a second thought, but doesn't mean there isn't any there.   It's quite literal, but still explains well.

Btw, you typoed "resistance" and "absence". :P

It's impossible not be afraid- It's part of our human nature and instinct to survive so yeah I agree that courage is a mastery of fear yet sometimes courage crosses the line to stupidity since you're usually risking harm if your taking a courageous desicion.

An interesting quote to be sure (The first one). Sorry I havn't been around in a while, been busy. But anyhow, I believe that the ultimate courage is to do what is right regardless of opposition or dificulty. If it is in your power to dowhat is right, and you don't do it, you are a coward.

Fear is probably what helps us live. If you don't have fear and you keep going on to something dangerous, even though common sense tells you that you won't make it, then you'll die for sure. Fear's a limiting factor. I don't know, but that's just what I think. If we didn't have fear, we'd be a much stupider species, if you ask me.

Fear can also be useful as an incentive as well as a restraint. People are capable of much greater feats when they're fleeing from something that could kill them since they're afraid of it. If they weren't the body wouldn't be maxed out in desperation.

It's a myth I tell you!

On Top Gear or Myth Busters or something similar they tested it out in not so scientific circumstances and it didn't work. Neither did positive reinforcemant.

>_>

However for the average person I'm sure the adrenaline helps a little.

I run at least twice as fast when I'm scared - nobody has ever caught up with me if I'm running away from them.

Yes, but if you were just as commited in a race I'm sure you could run just as fast.

So it's not really about the fear it's about the commitment. ;)

So for most people it might make a difference as the fair acts an inspiration but say an athlete or whatever they've already got the commitment so it won't mkae a difference.

I dunno I'm talking crap.
