Gven'nel or Serpentine Silver Sword?

Which is better? Poison and XP or 100 plus base damage?

please anyone? Does the xp bonus make a difference? What is better straight damage or poison? This is my first Witcher game.

Gven"nel has a level 13 requirement to use it, so unless you are level 13 then go for the serpent sword. Kinda odd that the game would give us a mid level weapon at the beginning of the game.
