Spoilers for Season 10!!!

Basically the Asgard committed suicide because their genetic structure was breaking down (from thousands of years of cloning)and they would simply die. All the Asgard aboard the human ship beamed back down to their planet (its name is eluding me atm).

Upon there suicide (they blew up thier entire planet!)they took 3 or 4 Ori mother-ships with them.

They left a supercomputer on board the Human ship which as Thor said "Its our heritage" Basically everything/every piece of information and technology the Asgard ever invented. As such it allowed Carter to stop time and work out how to avoid the Ori weapons fire.

Anything i missed?

Edited for firefox's inability to format text!

yeah apparently the last thing they experimented with to stop their degeneration gave all of the asgard a rapidly progressing disease too. so like some humans they chose to die on their own terms.

except for a few rogue Asgard (re: Loki) most of them got the memo and probably followed thru on final solution. so there may be a handful left, but unless they can figure out how to cure themselves they will be dead soon anyways.

yeah that definitely would have helped but like they said they didn't want their technology falling into enemy hands, so they just did it. they do think a little differently than us.

Really it's kinda surprising that the ship was so effective against the Ori ships considering the first time an asgard ship went up against one it ran tail.

Though it also had a ZPM under the hood, so I'd expect it's weapons had some extra kick. In general, lacking that, I see no reason to think that the Asgard would be any more effective against the Ori than they were in the S9 battle (not very), plus from what Thor said, they knew for the last 1.5 years that this was coming, so I imagine most of that time was being spent on their legacy.

I wonder if Hermiod (Sp) from Atlantis was there for the big boom. I hope not. I liked his attitude. He probably thought he was on babysitting duty.

I'm also going to assume that Loki wasn't there. Maybe still working on a cure. If he finds one maybe he'll go back in time to stop the rest of the Asgard from dieing.

The planet's name was Orella (Sp), the one from the S8 premiere.

And I don't think the Asgard helped because it didn't seam like they had any ships in orbit.

i've still got it on tape so i'll watch it again tomorrow. but my recollection is that 2 ori ships exited hyperspace on top of the daedalus and one was engaged with the earthship while the other lagged behind and as the planet exploded it took the 2nd one out. maybe 2 more flew into the area, i can't remember. i check back tomorrow.

Through the miracle of transcripts, there was no indication there that any Ori ships were taken out in the destruction of Orilla. Three ships showed up while the Asgard were doing the upgrades. The planet blew up, the Odyssey took out one with Asgard beam weapons, then later two ships kept dogging them. I assume it was the same two ships, though admittedly, that is just a guess. So, here's something; I wonder if we now have crazy Asgard hyperdrive technology. Seeing as how they seem to be able to do intergalactic trips in hours, it could bring Pegasus a lot closer to Earth. Hmm

Upon recieving the Asgard tech, 3 Ori ships exited hyperspace, 2 went towards the planet and 1 attacked the Odyssey. I believe that Hermiod is still alive, and that he would not have the disease, as he would not have been able to try the last ditch attempt to stabilise their DNA.

I can't wait until I see what earth does with all this mad Asgard tech!

the way they talked about the disease was that it was all-inclusive. they tried to repair everybody and then realized they just hurt themselves bigtime. it almost sounded like they all did it at once b/c obviously they didn't have any sign that it would hurt them until it was too late.

you're right. the writers saw the chance to effectively end the asgard storyline and did, which provided an avenue for us to gain all the asgard tech, which we would not have gotten for a very long time otherwise.

I hopping they come out with an X-305, a new ship that has the Asgard tech incorporated it. And upgrade the F-302s with shields and energy weapons.

Well, all indications are that Ancient tech is generally more advanced/powerful than Asgard, and the Ancients got their butts handed to them by the Wraith, so I dunno... I think the Asurans (aka Pegasus Replicators) are going to be stepping up as the bad boys of Pegasus going forward anyway :)

Well if carter and mckay and other sci's could figure out how to put all that super asgard tech on all the ships then the wraith would be in big trouble. If our ship could destroy an ori ship which is way stronger then it could probably take out several wraith hive ships before having to disengage.

The Ancients lost because they were outnumbered. Which we are too.

Right but there is no reason to expect Asgard tech to magically turn the tide if Ancient tech also failed to do so, which was all I was trying to say.

True but the asgard have also had an extra few thousand years to keep learning and the wraith have done pretty much nothing in that time. They cant even develope a better hyperdrive lol. The replicators i think are far more dangerous than the wraith especially right now.

No question there; the Pegasus Replicators are about a zillion times worse than the "old" Replicators. They basically are what Replicarter was hoping to become via the Ancient knowledge embedded in Daniel's mind. Of course, it is conceivable that peace with the Pegasus ones could happen at some point since they don't have the drive to replicate (so why are we stuck calling them Replicators, anyway? :) ), but they still have that pesky aggro base code.

yeah that definitely would have helped but like they said they didn't want their technology falling into enemy hands, so they just did it. they do think a little differently than us.

But they gave it all to the humans (knowing they would die protecting it or destroying it first), but wheres it safer, on their homeworld, completelty desrtroyed or on the earth ship, I know this, the earth ship is the least safe option.

To: all asgard

From: the high council

Re: our imminent death

so yeah, we're all dying, we have doomed our genetic make-up with our meddling. so we'd like to invite all Asgard to a party on Orella, BYOB. and at the end there will be lots, and lots of fireworks. and remember you are unique, as far as clones go. :)

maybe something like that.? :D
