Power Up Battle #3: Invincibility Star vs. Red Star

Welcome to the third week of the MKU's newest tournament. It will last around 15 weeks, where various Super Mario power-ups are pittted against each other in a voting contest. This vote will last for a week, so vote quickly! This week is:

Invincibility Star: Introduced in Super Mario Bros, it allows Mario to become invincible for a short amount of time. It makes Mario change colors rapidly, and occasionally allows him to jump higher. It has its own iconic theme.

Red Star: Introduced in Super Mario Galaxy, this power-up allows Mario to fly for an unlimited time by shaking the Wii remote. It has been used in one level and the Starship Observatory. Also has its own theme.

rad star! theres nothing like a flying black and red mario, sound like a evil mario but he was aweosme :D

Voted for Invincibility Star. The theme music that goes along with the power up is just amazing.

Unlimited flight is all well and good, but it doesn't compare favourably to invincibility.

Invincible star was always a favorite and I was a little upset when it was left out of 3D games like Sunshine and Galaxy 1 where Stars started to become macguffins for the story (kind of like Sonic games and Chaos Emeralds) but I'm glad they were brought back in later games. Sometimes it's just satisfying to plow through a bunch of enemies.

The red star might have been more fun but you barely got to use it.
