This twin bladed zanpakutou is the real weapon form of Zangetsu, and what we thought was the spirit of Zangetsu was actually a sort of manifestation of Ichigo's quincy side (his mom having been revealed to be a quincy). His quincy side was purposefully trying to hold back and dissuade Ichigo from combat and such, repressing his true power for instance, in a misguided attempt to protect Ichigo, channeling the powers of the hollow side of Ichigo to create what we originally thought was Ichigo's shikai and bankai (thus explaining why his hollow could use them too). Having gradually been persuaded to step aside, Ichigo's quincy side has now stopped repressing Ichigo's true power, thus him gaining the twin blades.

I say uhhh hmmmm outlaws. Like when Aizen appear in HM. The hollows became something else because of the orb. I guess in this sense for these Quincy it something else. Good example, Opie. After that form, he look more like a hollow than a Quincy.

this is getting to be a bit crazy.

I wonder if ishida is trying to become the next ichimaru gin :P backstab the leader by being close to said leader.
