Welcome to Shinso's House of Zen!

*Gin chillin'in the kitchen with 'Bankai' Chef Knives*

Shinigami, welcome to what I label as the BEST place within Soul Society...my personal kitchen.  Most of you are well aware that I love to cook, so we are going to be using this topic for multiple purposes:

1) Ask me anything food related.

2) Feel free to request custom made dishes when hungry...I'll see what I can come up with.

3) Feel free to post what you crave, or what you had for breakfast/lunch/dinner.

4) Lastly, as always, lets keep things clean and follow the rules, otherwise I'll summon Gordon Ramsay to come after you which is a punishment worse than a thousand deaths.

In terms of the sauce I cheat and buy the packaged mix. :P

I can't even fathom how difficult making it from scratch would be.

Something that's been really growing on me since I tried it some weeks ago and has lead to some cravings for it here and there, is sushi, specifically salmon sushi :3

Since he works under the Gotei 13 Union, he charge an arm and leg. Hand it over.

*grabs ax*

Kidding. I ready for some more dishes.

1) Yes, my business is always open, the service may not be consistant throughout, but I'll be open.

2) If you have to ask about my prices, them chances are you cannot afford it. Also, I do accept trades and bribes... ;)

3) RF, that's great that you are getting into Sushi - I feel it's one of the more misunderstood dishes for most Americans; once they hear "raw fish," they usually say no thanks. For those that prefer not to dabble in raw fish, the better Sushi rolls to try are: Shrimp Tempura, Sweet Potato, and Tofu.

BTW, Prinze. Rename the thread title to your cooking shop name. If this is successful, you will have your own thread to yourself forever in this union.

That's a trade secret, but the reality is, it's based on spawning season. Flounder season usually starts in Spring and runs through Summer.

1) Actually, I'm not aware of any fish that do die after mating.

2) I do serve vegetarian upon request, however, nothing vegan, that's too hardcore for my talents.

Normally I'm a picky eater, so I was a bit worried the whole raw fish thing wouldn't go down well with me, but it's surprisingly nice, and growing on me more and more :) Though I'm British not American, though I'm pretty sure it's just as much an understood dish here as it is there :P

And here's some foody questions:

  1. Preparation wise, what's your favourite dish to actually make?
  2. What is your favourite dish to actually eat?

1) My favorite dish to make is probably either steak, or home-made burgers or tacos.

2) It's hard to have a favorite dish to eat, but if I had to choose, I'd probably go with Vietnamese Pho with pork Banh Mi. :D

3) Ooh, that kind of sucks that you're allergic to shrimp. For spicy, I'd recommend the popular spicy tuna roll with ginger and fresh wasabi.

I've read that one of the places down town can make special dishes for vegans. Which is good for them. Does guacamole or sour cream ever go good with sushi?

I've never tried either of those, but it would have to be a special type of roll to accomodate those flavors. For example, the Philly roll has a little bit of cream cheese with some vegetables and is quite good. I can see guacamole and sour cream being used lightly in a unique roll with other Southern flavors.

Only food, right? If you have that link at the bottom of your receipt go to the website and follow the instructions. It's only 1 free cookie per visit, and the Subways might only offer you the deal on certain cookies. I got my free chocolate chip cookie yesterday.

Well, well, well if it isn't Gin pretending to be a cook.  For a true Test of your skill you have to make the following dishes

Duck la Orange, Rice Medley, Strawberry Surprise.  One mistake and I can discredit you.

(NOTE - I am a real chef)

P.S. Yes Duck la Orange is a French Dish.  So get ready for your biggest challenge of your career

I could make Duck a l'orange, but not off the top of my head. The hardest part would be obtaining the proper ingredients. From the looks of it, the actual cook time far outweighs the prep time, although, the prep time definitely takes some skill to pull off.

In terms of salt, I try to limit the usage of it. I often use coarse or sea salt in place of regular table salt when prepping most of my food.

Technically yes, but they wouldn't be as good as the classic, plus, portions might be a little bigger than most would care for.
