I hate Greatest hits albums, I am an album man purely. I like music that is written as an album, a cohesive vision. That's why I love Abbey Road so much, the second side of that is just one flowing medley (plus here comes the sun), and it's the finest thing the Beatles did.stephenage
Agreed. I have not listened to Abbey Road however :P One Album I am looking into it "The Beach Boys Today!" just starting to get into their music (again I suppose) but there are some great tracks on there, nd I'd love to listen to the whole thing. Do you listen to music on its own ever? or just the whole album at once?
Ah I see, yeah likewise with me
Edit: What about playlists? I think that is a worthwhile endevour as well. Im not really good at making playlists my self, but my brothers are really good at it. There's one playlist I was thinking of posting, and probably will. It's on an old tape, its a bunch of songs recorded off the Oldies station, and it just goes so well. Obviously I probably like it a bit more because the nostalgia. Another thing that adds to it is it has commercials in it, and half of songs, and bad sound quality. Its superb. I'll post the tracks up later
[QUOTE="bob_toeback"]Anyone like United States of Eurasia? That ones my favourite :Pstephenage
Not particularly :P.
no? I think that ones pretty cool :P
What about Assassin? its pretty intense :P I just listened to that one again. I used it for my schools end of year video once. I put it over top of the school orchestra band, and tried to make it look like they were playing. At this point everyone stopped watching, though I think it had to do with the overall thing being too long :P

Assassin is great, but I much prefer the stuff off Absolution specifically and Origin of Symetry.
Ah I see, I'm not too aware of their albums (other than the names) my brother is a lot bigger on Muse than I lol, though I do like a lot of their songs
listening to a song on the 50s-60s radio station right now.. Its strange, by Neil Sedeka. He's covering a whole bunch of songs, in between each song he says like a riddle about the next song, and who sang it.. very strange :P
Here's that playlist I was talking about earlier if anyone is interested. Just a bunch of oldies that were on a tape of mine:
Here
It's 1 hour and 48 mins. 39 songs in total
The middle point is "Wipeout" By the Beach Boys, it cuts right in the middle of that song, and continues on the other side.
Well I heard "Your Love is My Drug" by Kesha on the radio today. Oh my, so first off, this song is wicked shallow. Second off, I hate how its promoting drugs (rather than love or whatever its pretending to). At the very least it uses 'drugs' as a way to be cool. I mean, when she starts singing like shes on drugs, and talking about how high shes gonna be, plus her voice is plain annoying. Its just plain awful. I mean, The Doors did "Light My Fire" and that could be considered talking about drugs in a sense, at least some of it (and the doors of course did a bunch of drugs).
Now this brings me to something else. MGMT make reference to drugs a whole lot in their music, and in real life they do a whole lot of drug. But in their music, they dont go and prmote it, or make it 'cool'. I would argue anyway. In "Time To Pretend" they talk about cocaine and stuff, and originally I was turned off of the song for this reason, but if you actually listen to the lyrics you would realise its a wicked sad story that isnt saying 'hey lets do drugs'. I mean, so many people post on yotube and say "who likes to be high when they listen to this" and they completley have no idea hat the song is even about. I wouldnt say its a negative conotation toward drugs, because that would be contradictory to the band, but they certainly arent telling everyone they should do em.
I know it's so dumb, the oldies are mainly where its at (for me at least). Songs are just so blatent and dumb now adays. The thing is they rely on a beat rather than anything else. Do you know what song is AWFUL speaking of rhiana, she might not sing it but: "If I Were a Boy" its like, alright I get what the song is about, but if a guy made a song like that, pointing out issues with women, it would be sexist. However it would still be retarded, just a double standard is all.
