That's odd... What's the point in having such a big team if normal people can make the game look even better?:|bugbag
Because the big team made that technology available.

The big teams are constrained by what the bosses want to do and the bosses care more about appealing to a wider audience and selling copies than what would make the game better.
Â
The big team also made the game the first time around :|Kman5507
That may be true but considering how buggy Skyrim was at launch and how many mods came out fixing stuff before Bethesda fixed them I would say the big team didn't make it as well as they could have.
It was bad. If you have too many items lying around it has major frame-rate issues, sometimes dropping to less than one a second. I actually pick up all the items I see and put them in a single box, keep my inventory cleared out, and try to avoid rain because I don't feel like buying the Legendary Edition!:D
But it's so big and fancy! :o
How buggy was it when it came out? I didn't get it until Christmas.Â

That's not even counting how many mods would allow the game to take advantage of higher end PC hardware. For example when it was released the game couldn't take advantage of graphics cards that had 2GB of VRAM. Bethesda fixed that one months after there was a mod available that already fixed it.
Doesn't patching cost a lot of money too? I'm sure they would put as much as they can in one patch rather than release several other small patches.
Mods are always halpful though. I hate how you have to download a mod to make minecraft run faster. It's been needed since it was in beta. I'm wondering why Mojang never decided to fix the game themselves.

All those issues got fixed in the early patches.
Which I can't download. Developers need to stop releasing incomplete products because some people can't patch it. I love Skyrim but it's really annoying.bugbag
I wholeheartedly agree. I miss the days when games were fully finished on release.
[QUOTE="bugbag"]Soon I bet they will start releasing half of a game and make you pay for the second half.:|Kman5507
They already do that with some games for DLC :(
Yeah....like Street Fighter X Tekken. :x

This is the world we live in, make a mod for a game that may be better than the original game and they may stop you from releasing it. Not that I had much reason to ever give gearbox another cent but I surely won't now.
Luckily I don't like Duke Nukem.:P
Those Skyrim mods are crazy! You can have your own TARDIS!:o
bugbag
For me it isn't about whether I like or dislike Duke Nukem but the busines practices of Gearbox. After Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens: Colonial Marines, and now this I really hope they go out of business.

So it looks like EA makes more money from sales of PC games than any other platform. Yet we still get the crappy version of Fifa and no hockey or football !!!!!

I didn't know the same group made Aliens. Wow, that is not good.:|
Well hopefully they can create some amazing game and redeem themselves. Everyone wins then!
Maybe EA doesn't release some sports games on PC because they want people to think they're not greedy?:|

I can't really imagine those games working well on a keyboard though.Â

This coupled with the majority of people who like those games most likely play mostly on consoles.

PC Gamers can plug in gamepads and play it like that if it suits them.

Well Gearbox took Sega's money for Aliens and then farmed out the work for Aliens to Timegate studios and them blamed them even though Gearbox only gave them 8 months to crank out a AAA game from scratch. You're more optimistic then me lol.
Â
Well one of the reasons EA says we don't get all sports games and don't get as good of quality of ones is we don't upgrade enough. Would be funny if not so sad and wrong.Â
That's brilliant. If a game fails give it to another studio.
Â

Well at that point it hadn't failed. Gearbox was busy working on Borderlands 2 and hadn't really started much of Aliens so they asked Sega for an 8 month extension and then turned to Timegate and contracted them to make the game in 8 months. 8 months later there wasn't much of a game so Gearbox glued it together and sold it to us. I had it preordered until the 8 month delay. I smelled something fishy and pulled my preorder. My nose was right. I feel bad for Timegate, they take a big part of the blame but wasn't really at fault. They made Section 8 which was a pretty good game. They've gone bankrupt since (unrelated to Aliens).

It's amazing they made something as successful as Borderlands but were in charge of Duke Nukem Forever and Aliens: Colonial Marines.:|

They also developed the Brothers in Arms series which was pretty good. It's like they're in a freefall. Sounds like bad management more than a lack of talent at the ground level.Â

I didn't really care for Brothers in Arms, it seemed a bit generic. Nevertheless, it wasn't bad.:P[QUOTE="PublicNuisance"]I didn't really care for Brothers in Arms, it seemed a bit generic. Nevertheless, it wasn't bad.:Pbugbag
I liked them for the story mainly. The AI was decent at best and horrible at it's worst. The gameplay was a refrshing take on FPS. They beat the heck out of Duke Nukem Forever or Aliens though lol.Â
^Agreed.
What exactly was the story about? I forgot.
bugbag
The story was just about the escapades of a unit in the American Army during WWII. What set it apart was the characters were very fleshed out and did a great job  making you feel for them. The 3 Brothers in Arms games all dealt with the same unit so you got to know the characters more and more each game.
The one I played had a long road and a tank.:|
Yeah, that doesn't help does it?:P
bugbag
Not really lol.

In other news this is pretty impressive for a one man dev team:

For those who 1080P, and even 4K resolutions just don't cut it the PC allows you to go further.....Â

 How does 11520*2160 sound for a resolution ? :)
