No, my computer is quite new. My old 98' computer could run text based RPGs, Fallout and even Doom.

It's not a gaming computer, that's for sure.

because he defeated the boss, who was the boss, and he wanted to be the boss, therefore becoming the boss over the rest of the bosses who wanted or were bosses over a few bosses at one point in time where there were bosses. If that makes sense

My big thing is to have meaningful choices that make a difference to the story. The Witcher, The Witcher 2, Mass Effect 1,2, and 3, are all examples of fantastic RPG's in my opinion.

I think RPGs could do better with decisions. Many events turn out the same in all these RPGs I play. It would be cool if there were six completely different routes, entangled with each other. That way you can visit all sorts of different locations, and when you play it over you will see many levels you missed the first time depending on your choices.

Games are going to be huge hopefully: It will really be us leading the story, and the variety of ways to get to the end will feel limitless. The question is, how much longer do we have to wait?

I forgot to mention Alpha Protocol. Sure the gameplay wasn't perfect but the choice system was a beautiful thing to see. I played that thing for 15 straight hours on a day off and beat it the day it came out. Not a long game but it held my attention for sure.

The sad thing is that if they focussed on the PC more we would already have larger worlds, better AI, better graphics, etc. The hardware is there just waiting. Even Far Cry 3 only uses 50% of my CPU and that is at most, it usually is around 30%. Most games don't even stress my SLI setup. Nothing comes close to using my 16GB of RAM.

Such a game would cost a lot of money for sure but there are well over 30 million Steam accounts of which over 40% have a quad core or better CPU, over 40% have a DX11 GPU, and over 30% have over 8GB of RAM. The customer base is there and waiting.

I'm not saying consoles and their user base should be shut out but it sucks to have to wait while the developers play catch up with the consoles ebfore we can see any leaps.

The size of the world is just one thing. Not only could it have been bigger but even if they hadn't changed the size they could of had a more detailed environment, better AI, better physics, etc.

Why would I want a console ? Even if developers don't take advantage of our hardware we can still improve on their game. On PC there are mods, better AA, higher res textures, higher reolutions, more choice for input (gamepad, keyboards/mice, flight stick, etc), going to consoles would have made my experience worse even if developers don't take full advantage of my hardware.

A game like that would be highly expensive, and would take time in terms of development, but designing tools are getting easier to work with, and games can be created quicker than ever now. If we look at the difference between Oblivion and Skyrim we can see how games are progressing, it's only going to get more expansive from here on.

I think the first company to really deliver what I'm looking for could be Bioware. I think that's what they want to do, they just lack the means of doing it.

I do think games are being held back in terms of technology due to consoles, even though I prefer consoles. I personally don't care much for graphics, but we need better technology if we really want to make a truly opened game.

I'm thinking Clock Tower 1, but bigger.

No doubt it would be expensive but would it be as expensive as we think ? I mean Crysis was made for around $20 million yet Killzone 2 cost nearly $100 million. The difference would be in the marketing budget in my opinion. I think a top notch game could be made for $20-30 million so long as you're not going overboard on advertisement. A game with top notch graphics, physicics, AI and a huge game world would almost sell itself. Start showing off some screenshots and videos every few months to keep interest up.

I think the other problem is the different financial models between PC and consoles. Console publishers have a mindset that their game must make back it's budget and make profit within the first 90 days. I can almost understand that because of the used game market but the PC works so much differently. PC you get your gains long term not short term. Crysis sold over 4 million copies but it took a couple years to do it. I can almost guarentee that our fictional game we have been discussing would make back it's money if it were given time to do so but  highly doubt most publishers would be patient enough to let it.
