The Game Developers Conference is barely under way in San Francisco, but announcements are already beginning to pop up. This morning, Valve announced plans to expand its Steam content delivery service to the biggest screens in gamers' homes--their televisions.

Steam--coming soon to a TV near you.

"Our partners and customers have asked us to make Steam available in more places. With the introduction of Steam on the Mac, and soon in Portal 2 on the PS3, we've done just that," said Valve vice president of marketing Doug Lombardi. "With big picture mode, gaming opportunities for Steam partners and customers become possible via PCs and Macs on any TV or computer display in the house."

Valve did not elaborate on how Steam would be brought to televisions, but did say that big picture mode would "offer controller support and navigation designed for television interaction." It said it would share further details on the service with developers and publishers during private meetings at GDC.

As of last October, Steam had more than 30 million customers worldwide. It is currently available for the PC and Mac and will see some functionality arrive on the PlayStation 3 with the release of Portal 2 in April.

This is great news! Especially for someone who doesn't check the website and the unions only.

But it works, provided you use other websites for news of course.

It's not worth making a new thread about, the homepage is cluttered as it is. Pointless threads like this can obscure the useful and interesting ones, also the fact that this got little to no attention shows its worth.

Ah, good points, these are forums for discussion, not news, I had forgotten that.

The meaning of a forum, how philosophical. :P

He has a right to make topics just as you do, as long as he does not break the terms of use, there is no need to close this topic.

He has a right to make topics but I have a right to close them if they are pointless. The pointless threads he is making are clogging up the homepage and we already have threads in the union to talk about these kinds of things.

Which is why I'm guiding him towards the other threads we have. This thread has almost been here for a month and it hasn't reached 2 pages yet, it is just clutter.
