The best ever is cleary FF7 followed closely by FF8, none of the other compare, FF6 was good though, FF10 was rubbish because it was too short and the characters were boring, plus all the best FF`s have played with our emotions FF9 and FF10 failed to do that, well thats my opinion :)
Nobody has FFVI as their favortie :(....well, to each his own. This game just brings back memories for me and I've played it so many times I've lost count (yes I've played all the final fantasy games, and honestly I like them all, but FFVI gives me a sense of nostalgia.)
I think FF7 is great, but love FF9 for a reason. I agree that FFX is way to short, but look in the story, it's great love the story there-I stoped on FF8, i couldn't keep my mind of the silly Graphic (i know it's silly, but hey thats me;)
I never knew so many people liked VIII. I totally despised that game. Not only did I feel totally let down by that characters after the killer cast in VII, and even VI before it, but the level system seemed ridiculous. Sure it meant that pretty much no matter what you could play the game, enemies were only as difficult as you were strong or whatever, but honestly if FF taught us anything it was to get as powerful as possible and this game totally did the oposite. Plus that weapon making system was total rubbish. Sure it was a unique spin but they finally start to give weapons detail and make them different and then all the sudden everyone only has like 8 weapons. I mean honestly, VII had more characters each of which had more weapons than any 2 characters from VIII. And then you get into that magic drawing system, which while pretty cool, especially when you find out you can use the spells to augment your stats and they are free you can't help but think it is cool. Then you realize that by casting spells you are weakening you stats and therefore you don't want to cast spells if at all possible making them almost pointless. And that crazy taking tests to make money thing, I mean first you don't have to fight because leveling doesn't really matter and them they don't even make you win your money. I mean come on. I won't get into the story, so as not to ruin it for the fortunate few that haven't played it, but for some reason want to.

final fantasy viii was my second ff played so im not nasty to it but i dont see whats so great about it apart from the story. maybe its the expeirence, the feeling and memories.

Well maybe not everything about it. Most most things about it. And why should a true ffx fan like it. A true FFX fan loves FFX and wants a sequel to it. A sequel that is good and compares to FFX!
I think you should quit making us all feel bad because we don't have time or money to spend to buy and play the japanese version. JEEZ! j/k. But on a more serious note, I really think many of us are so forceful in our opinions that we start out simply not fully enjoying a game to totally hating it. I realize now that I did that with FFVIII. I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have wanted to, and that slowly grew into this venomous hatred for the game, but really I never even gave it a second chance. I can hardly remember anything about it really, even why I hated it, and so I changed my mind. Sure it is my least favorite, but I would love to play it again and try to at least see it for its good points. FFT is still my fave, and that probably won't change unless XII is totally awesome, or when XIII comes out, because that game looks insanomatically ridiculous.
i'm playing the japanese version, but i 'd like to have the english version too. That way, i don't need to have a Japanese-English dictionary with me all the time, when i'm playing FFXIII . :?
ya, my attendning japanese language course paid off. And, knowing chinese is making things easier for me than for you guys. A lot of Kanji [chinese characters] are used in Japanese games, and one Kanji word very well describes certain things, understanding chinese here will help too. :)
Yeah, I'll start learning chinese after I finish japanese, after I finish the other 7 languages I don't really plan on learning. Man it sucks being American, where you don't really need to learn another language. I mean it helps, but in alot of countries you have to learn a second language, it isn't just something you can choose to do. I wish they forced us into learing something, but I also wish it were easier to learn something other than French or Spanish here, most other are ignored until you get into college and even then most colleges only offer a few languages outside of that. It would rule to be able to play FFs early, or just games I don't normally get the chance to.
