Yes, Bloodlines did have crystals. In the game they were red, but appeared blue in the HUD and Password screens. Something I've always found interesting is how they were one of the items that form passwords on Bloodlines and white jewels are the means of saving on the N64 Castlevanias.
This is a hard one to pick for me. Upgrades for whips are nice, but I like it even better when the upgrades aren't temporary. As long as you don't die, in games like Bloodlines or Legacy of Darkness, you don't have to worry about loosing the power-ups--but that can be easier said than done. I like the upgrades you can choose to equip like in Harmony of Dissonance, where different stones can be fitted for different things. Or Lament of Innocence's different whips. I guess you could also say the cards in Circle of the Moon are also in this category. I guess you could say I'm more of a fan of items you can equip, even if they are weapons other than whips.
