What if you were asked by someone a question that is so easy to answer, but you are reluctant to do so because you're embarrased that the person may tease or insult you for not knowing or failing to answer correctly?

Depends on whether it is a personal question or not.

I have to agree. If the question is personal then it could be embarrassing.

I was actually thinking about this subject quite recently.

Sometimes it seems like our friends and acquaintances "quiz" us from time to time about things, though they may not realize how much they are putting us on the spot. Still, sometimes they DO realize, and the question about what is really going on becomes a question of respect.

I think the key to handling a situation like what you describe comes down to boundaries and self-image - not spewing out an answer just to seem "not dumb" or clueless just to satisy a momentary whim from someone else. True friends will not set you up for ridicule, and conversational ambiguity is an awesome thing. :D

If it's personal then the best thing to do if you don't feel comfortable is to tell your friend you don't want to answer the question. If they persist then don't give in, if you know it will embarrass you.

personnal questions should never be answered, unless it is someone you can really trust.

I walk away, telling them I need time to think about it. Then not see them for a week, by then, they'll have forgotten.

It all depends on the question.
