I feel Zelda is dead.
I loved Ocarina of Time. I played it on the N64 about 9 years ago and beat it and it left one of those impacts that's so hard to leave.
I tried Majora's Mask, it was OK, but the gameplay really turned me off.
I bought a GBA just to play A Link to the Past, since I had never played that, and I beat that and thought it was great and my friends had bought GBAs with the same Zelda and link cables so we could play multiplayer, and we did, it was fun and cool.
I played Wind Waker on the gamecube and absolutely loved it.
I even tried Four Swords adventures for gamecube, it was OK, not the best, but decent considering what it was.
But now I really feel that Zelda is very pitiful.
Twilight Princess, to me, was disgusting. Just a pandering to something that seemed like nostalgia for nostalgia's sake instead of trying to push the series forward. I didn't like it, it was gross and bad.
Phantom Hourglass was also a major disappointment. It was just boring, just plain boring.
I don't understand, the series was so great, even though some of its games weren't the greatest, such as Majora, they didn't fill me with some kind of dread like Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass did.
So I was trying to redeem my hope for the series, give it a chance, keep it alive, and then they talk about spirit tracks, which to me, looks again like some gimmicky pandering to who knows what and who knows why. OK, well, perhaps, I can just ignore the handheld Zelda game, hopefully they will take a new edge with the Wii Zelda game.
But no, they have that Wii Zelda screenshot and it sports the same cruddy art style of Twilight Princess, I wonder if Nintendo has even played its own game, it just isn't that good, at all.
I felt Twilight Princess could just have been a bad mistake and that Nintendo could get another chance to makes things right, since it's only fair, we all make mistakes.
But no, they want to make the same mistake again.
Nintendo, the Twilight Princess art style isn't that great. I don't understand why you think cartoony pastelly equals good, it doesn't.
It boggles me.
I adored Ocarina of Time, for years I called it my favorite game. I loved Wind Waker, and I even played Minish Cap for GBA, which had the art style of Wind Waker, and that wasn't half-bad.
But I'm tired of the boring ugly, unnattractive repetetiveness of this Zelda stuff. To me, the fire is gone, the charm is bleached out, it was once a beautiful substance that now only LOOKS like Zelda.
Zelda is gone, it's just no more, not the same. It's been made into a product, abandoned as a legend.
It's the Product of Zelda.
The legend is gone.
Rest in peace.
Zelda is dead.
