Not in order
The problem here is that all of my favorite devs that I've had at one point or another have gone downhill drastically in some fashion or another. Due to that, I'll add in an era that they were my favorites instead of a blanket statement for each dev.
Current main favs:
Old favs from back in the day:
- Square Enix (Yes, even today)
- CD Projekt Red
- Atlus
- Ryu Ga Gotoku
- Nihon Falcom
- Ubisoft
- Naughty Dog
- Sony Santa Monica Studios
- Rockstar Games
- Bandai Namco
Honorable Mentions: Guerilla Games, Devolver, Insomniac, Sony Computer Entertainment (They gave me Tearaway & Freedom Wars)
In no particular order and probably missing stuff
Honourable mentions:
In no particular order:
Bandai Namco Studios, Inc.
Sergeant_Mark_IV
PA1NKI113R (Project Brutality standalone submod for Brutal Doom)
Stellar Jockeys
Texel Raptor
PlatinumGames, Inc.
Killpixel
Running With Scissors
Relic Entertainment
id Software, even if i think that Doom Eternal's a bit overrated.
Not sure if all these are developers or publisher/developers but close enough. Most developers here were ruined and stained forever by EA after the buyouts. I like almost all Rockstar and Bethesda games but hate the companies, not sure if I could list them along some of these other classic developers.
Dam, that's a good list. Regret not using some of those, esp Bullfrog.
Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Square/Enix (old and before they merged.. although this is kind of cheating for just one dev team), Bethesada, Rare (old), THQ (old), Blizzard, Koei/Tecmo, Atlus.
honorable mention: Zipper/Slant 6 (for SOCOM alone)
Those were ten of my favorites off the top of my head in no particular order.
Nintendo
Valve
idSoftware
FromSoftware
Capcom
Can't think of anything else I want in there. If you asked me 15 years ago, this list would probably have around 20 more studios.
Intelligent Systems, Blizzard, Rare, Namco Bandai, DICE, among other past great studios are all pretty crap now.
It is hard to pick your favorite developers when you like me have been gaming for nearly 40 years and much has changed. I could pick Thalamus, Cinemaware or System 3 for example, but they no longer exist. Anyway:
Capcom (most consistent through time. Street Fighter 2, Resident Evil 1-3, Dead Rising 1-4)
Taito (the developer of my all-time favorite game Bubble Bobble)
Sega (old Sonic games, Crazy Taxi, Streets of Rage 1,2)
Square (Final Fantasy 4-7 in particular)
Konami (Silent Hill)
Take Two (GTA, Bioshock, Borderlands)
EA (EA Hockey, NHL94, Desert Strike)
Bioware (Dragon Age, Mass Effect)
Bethseda (Fallout, Oblivion)
Technos (Double Dragon)
