The most bad ass character is Tingle from Zelda.

To me personally, gotta say Agent 47.

Dude has no ego and yet is unconditionally confident, which he can afford to be because he is 110% competent at anything. Doesn't need attention, doesn't want attention. I have a thing for the unsung heroes, the ones who work in the shadows...the Agent 47's, the Sam Fishers, the Geralts

Not that much of a fan of RE4 Leon.

Like Special Officer Doofy Leon where his simplistic optimism concept and how good and bad work makes Ada horny.

Similarly, prefer Halflife (1) Freeman to 2's where, rather than being declared Jesus, his character starts off as an irrelevant nerd on the grind, with each phase of the game vaguely fitting the heroes journey.

He was the one who fought hecu unit when they turnes against scientist. He was the one who went to xen planet and destroy them.

Half life 2 freeman was alreay legend thats why he was declares as choosen one to fight against alien empire combine forces.

Gordon freeman journey from just a fresh assistant to genious sceintist to choosen one is more complex than Haloman story who at start of first game wear helmet and start shooting pokemon.

Dr Freeman is not only badass but genius scientist and gaming one of the best hero even thought he never talks.

But shouldn't Freeman be declared a hero in 2 after everything he did in Half Life?

I mean through his journey he uncovered more about the administration/facility/army/aliens... than any other single person did.

All his other fellow colleagues did was hide.

And also the Vortigaunts consider him a messiah for freeing them from Nihilanth, a fight Gordon had no way of winning.

Or maybe they just appreciate that he stopped shooting them.

Well I mean, it was technically him who brought the Combine to earth in the first place.

The Vortigaunts are more understandable, but they still very much remain slaves in Halflife 2 and Alyx, literally batteries.

Dr. Breen, while collaborating and having a detached scientific eye, completely removing the moral aspect seeing humanity as getting nothing more than an upgrade, did technically save earth.

The motto for Halflife 2 is basically "live on your knees or die on your feet", the point isn't so much he saves earth, as he does inspire it.

But, it doesn't really make sense to me that he's seen as a hero at the start of the game. It's even confirmed in Episode 2 the entire point was to cause a disaster.

Believe gimmick of Halflife why he's doing all this shit compared to other egg-heads is the HEV suit. Aside from that, the security guards do their job, but primarily serve as red-shirts.

Mario. Dude is an Olympic level athlete in multiple sports, has saved countless kingdoms across many dimensions, and can toss dragons with his bare hands.

Can fix anything, drive anything, fly, shoot fire, is hard as metal, as fluffy as a cloud, and no one, NO ONE, throws a party like Mario.

Also, he's a doctor.

My pick is Ryu from Street Fighter.

The dude has fought fighters from his own Universe who are capable of super-human feats, he's thrown down with Marvel's greatest heroes and villains such as Spider-Man, Magneto, Wolverine, and Captain America and held his own, he's fought the best fighters that SNK has to offer, he's fought other powerful and legendary heroes from other Capcom franchises,. he's taken on Tekken's fighters, all in all Ryu already has one of the most impressive resumes in gaming.

But then, he got to appear in Smash, and had the honor of fighting some of gaming's most legendary and powerful heroes and villains such as Mario, Bowser, Samus, Link, Kirby, Sonic, Cloud, Solid Snake, the list goes on and on.

Ryu's quest to seek out greater challenges as a martial artist has given him a career of fighting a virtual list of legends all of whom he has fought.

How do you top fighting Marvel's best and most iconic characters, then throwing down with the best Nintendo and other gaming companies have to offer, without even considering everyone else he's fought along the way such as SNK's fighters?

Keeping in mind, Ryu is not even the strongest fighter from his own universe or even the most talented user of his martial art. Its implied Ken is more naturally talented, while Akuma is considered more powerful, and that's not even getting into others like M.Bison.

So, we have someone who manages to have a career of fighting some of the most famous characters ever created and he's not even the most powerful guy in a fight.

Yeah, I would say that makes Ryu pretty badass.

Kind of pointless irrelevant shit, but fun to discuss - it's implied in the animated movie by Seth (which is canon) that Ryu is indeed more powerful than Akuma and Akuma kills Bison at the end of SFII.

P.S. Kratos is a juvenile, whiny, murderous piece of shite. At least in the OG trilogy. He's a decent old man in the new GOW though. In terms of power, however, Kratos easily gets owned like a biach by the likes of Dante, Bayonetta and Asura.

I like Dante. He seems mostly fun and chill and still powerful.

Tough dudes by themselves are very boring to me. They need something else going for them to hold my interest and I think they did a great job with Kratos. I didn’t play the previous games but the new one was awesome and I look forward to the next game.

Good point. Kratos is basically a Conan the Barbarian rip-off. Except Kratos is a lot more savage and barbaric than Conan. Even Conan at least has some morals, whereas Kratos is a straight-up villain with no morals.

While Kratos did somewhat redeem himself in GOW 2018, that still doesn't make up for him for being a shitty scumbag in the OG trilogy.
