Far Cry 5 Will Have a Customisable Lead Character and Co-Op Campaign

Ever get sick of playing the douchebag, Jason Brody in Far Cry 3? How about getting a little bored playing the chiseled US military ranger/suave mofo, Ajay Ghale in Far Cry 4? Well, good news for you then, folks, as Ubisoft has recently revealed that in Far Cry 5 you’ll play you. Well, an embodiment of you or a customisable character of your choosing.

In Far Cry 5 players will jump into the shoes of an unnamed Deputy Sheriff, sent into Hope County, Montana, to arrest Joseph Seed, the leader of the 'Project at Eden’s Gate' cult. Players will not only be able to shape their world by disrupting the activities of the cult, drawing attention from the Heralds - Joseph’s three siblings - but they’ll also be able to customise the heck out of their characters, choosing their sex, ethnicity, clothing, look and what not.

But wait, that’s not all! Ubisoft also confirmed that Far Cry 5 would welcome back the co-op campaign, which was conspicuously absent from Far Cry Primal.

Ubisoft didn’t say how many characters would be able to co-op the campaign in Far Cry 5, but said that it won’t just be restricted to co-op side missions, like in Far Cry 4. Players in Far Cry 5 will be able to fully experience the campaign in co-op. Fully. Fully! You get that? There is no word yet on how many players it will support, but as soon as we find out, you’ll be the first to know.

Far Cry 5 will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on 28th February 2018.

my friend, ubisoft formula of assasssins creed and far cry has been same. but they keep making it again and again. they are not even evolving.

atleast id software do not release doom every year.

I like far cry 3 but hated 4 and primal and this game wont change that same stale formula.

They have 3 franchise and all are same. Actual Assassins creed, modern day AC (watch dogs), and First person AC (far cry).

Huh, my friends and I were going to skip this game, but a co-op campaign might actually bring us to buy it.

Crappy games can usually be made fun with co-op, unless they are so bad they're unsalvagable.

If Ubisoft can evolve their open world sandbox formula, and move away from the mind numbing; climb a tower here, expose that part of the map, liberate a campsite, and beat fetch quest, I'm down. I really like the setting and premise. This definitely should have taken place in KY though. I also don't like how it takes place in a fictional town.

But i wanna shoot brown people. :(

Seriously though, great to finally have a proper coop.

Would've probably never dropped FC4 if i could play all of it with a friend. Side activities were fun, but they only get you so far.

Full campaign co-op is nice and grabbed my interest but will wait till it comes out on xbox game pass and plow through it then. If Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves and State of Decay 2 drop around Far Cry 5, will be a log jam.

I, myself, identify as a non-binary transfox, so they better have that covered.

Reminds me of the Kevin Smith film, Red State. Sorta.

Day One purchase for me.

Funny you'd say that. I wrote on another post that the geographical and civil engineering of the rural America on display is the best Ive seen since GTA V. GTA V first person mode to be exact.

What the heck for? It's in first-person. Will the character I create show up in the *gasp* cutscenes? I suppose it'll be useful in MP.

I liked this game better when it had lighthouses and barbershop quartets singing the Beach Boys.

Joke aside, this does seem like the Far Cry model. Open world ($20 says the "towers" this time around are church steeples), eccentric villain, etc.

Still looks fun, though.

Side thought for System Wars: ANOTHER game with a PlayStation marketing deal.

the thing is. developers can concentrate on one thing. either Coop or SP or MP. theres very few good alrounder games. for intance borderland is SP game but focus on Coop.

@ghosts4ever: I actually agree with you and was thinking about this the other day. It's always SP or co-op never both because one always takes away from the other:

Red Alert 3: Either a co-op buddy or AI that doesn't fit the game.

Left 4 Dead: amazing in co-op but no fun in solo. Games are designed for co-op.

Gears of war: Ok, now this is getting there, still the game is designed for co-op and in solo you really notice how brain dead the AI is.

Perhaps Portal 2 is a good example as they made a seperate co-op and SP. Trying to combine the two always left one mode lacklustre compared to the other.

But all you see is the hands? Is this really necessary? I guess it's a co-op thing mostly...

One of the pitfalls of being a lover of a medium is the peron starts to believe they have acquired some knowledge and it is a right to pre judge things. They will say "But look at blah blah, my judgement turned out to be right". What they fail to see is the main reason the experience turned out bad for them is they colored it with a predetermined notion before starting it. Just let yourself be entertained for fvck's sake. Even if its bad, I get some laughs and entertainment out of it most often because I let go of my egoistic need to be right and just play. Remember when as a kid we just played?
