I wouldn’t exactly call the ps5 bustling with top notch launch software either. What, it’s got a remake and dlc? Not exactly thrilling.

When both consoles hit their stride, it’ll be a different story - I can promise you that.

Not much of a review on a next-gen console if anyone has been following this for months and already got an idea what to expect. We all know XSS is not the best value, only XSX is.

Biggest xbox fanboy happy about xbox is actually nice. 7 years of disappointment maybe a little smile is good.

Cool. Will check them out the video reviews for them later along with the ones for GameSpot. I’m mainly interested in the XSX but curious how the XSS does. There’s plenty of games that I’m looking forward to playing on the XSX myself so that’s not really an issue for me.

Seems like a fair review to me. It’s a solid console with robust quality of life features. It doesn’t do anything surprising, nor has any exclusive launch games. But if you play games like AC, or COD it’s a good bang for your upgrade.

The quality of life stuff actually seem like a bigger jump compared to what we got last time (on both consoles).

Gaming goes on. Not much to say.

It seems the Series X is great for those who are looking a first "serious" console or someone who is coming back to MS after a gen on other platforms, but yeah ... little reason for anyone else to buy it right now.

As for the Series S ... Yikes !!! (i still think it will sell well enough though).

These *gaming journalists* probably hated the PS2 launch since it was another console that launched with horrible exclusives or barely exclusives.

The only reason to buy next gen consoles is if you are switching from Sony to Xbox or Xbox to Sony to play the best versions of current gen games. Which is exactly what I'm doing.

Both console launch games are terrible.

Xbox will be good after three years, I guess. As far as buying the box NOW, Series X is the only real choice, but you're gonna mostly be playing old games on it.

Pretty impressive. Microsoft seems to have learned a lot from the last gen.

This gen has been so painfully long. They better have had enough time to learn from their mistakes.

What i personally hope so, is that their strategy works. Its good to have a system that the console maker didn't skip on any important component.

Even Nintendo can do this. Release a Switch Plus, another portable system with a bit better specs, and a Switch Slab (lol or whatever it will be called) as a standard home console to those who do not care about its portability (ME) and would just want to experience next gen in high res, with rt and lots of 60fps games.

@Pedro: Safe perhaps, yet we still got some truly amazing games. I'm not arguing against more risk or creativity in games mind you, bring on some innovention Sony, MS, Nintendo, Atari...ok I don't see Atari doing so but the others I'd love to see it!

I would say that Astrobot looks like a great addition to Sony's template approach. Its the most interesting game for me out of all the launch titles.

Better than Xbox, possibly. But like I said both are tragic.

The best launch games are on both and will look and perform best on series X, does that excuse the launch games, not one bit.

If you are happy with the PS5 launch and assuming your actually getting one for these launch games alone then its not my problem you have low standards. If they so good show us your pre-order for PS5 and all 3 games.

So the first year counts as "launch"? To me launch is the by Christmas 2020 and neither system wows me with what is coming as to new content. Both will get more stuff but I think it will be well into 2021 before we see it.

Console reviews are kinda dumb unless it's after the life of the console and its library of games.

Why is that?
