"The Microsoft console alongside the Nintendo Switch dominated the holiday season"

https://exputer.com/news/xbox-series-x-dominates-black-friday/

and Xbox Series S had hit #1 until it sold out after being in first place in the UK on Amazon!

https://www.trueachievements.com/n52035/xbox-series-s-amazon-black-friday-best-seller

Xbox and Call of Duty top Black Friday

The Black Friday season is in right now and consoles always sell big during this time. It is no different this year as gaming products have dominated sales this holiday season. More specifically, the Xbox Series X has won the Black Friday sale being the most sold product during this time.

Xbox Series X beat the sales of merchandise toys like the cartoon character “Bluey“. Even singular games didn’t beat the sales of the consoles as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II took the No.3 spot. Hence, the console has won the shopping holiday by a huge margin according to Washington Examiner.

Major Takeaways:

  • Xbox Series X topped the Black Friday sales chart this year with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
  • Nintendo Switch held the No.1 spot in sales during the Thanksgiving period, alongside God of War Ragnarok.
  • No PlayStation console made an appearance in the top 5.

Modern Warfare II selling so well alongside the Series X is probably an effect of the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard acquisition. PlayStation has the marketing rights to the franchise but the Xbox and Call of Duty double still ruled charts. So, maybe the consumers are relating the product to Xbox due to the ongoing deal.

What say you fellow SW friends? Are you surprised that the Xbox Series X outsold the Series S? I know I was surprised. What are your thoughts?

These numbers are extremely concerning. Someone should call the government to do something about it.

Congratulations to President Philip John Edward Spencer, double winner of the Clio award and now beating all the competition, including the mighty Bluey.

I guess costumers understood the incredible value that is Gamepass and can not have enough of this Microsoft Corporation product. Just for $10 a month you get unlimited access to hundreds of games, now with a 3 month subscription to Apple TV. What a deal!

It's pretty cool that gamers are buying up all the consoles at a record pace for all console makers. I want gaming to keep growing!

Xbox Series X beating out the Sony console is a surprise considering the momentum the latter was gaining. Most probably, it is because of the decrease inPlayStation 5stock due to the sales. But, it’s still a great move from Microsoft to hold back the stock for the holiday season.

PlayStation moved a ton of consoles at the beginning of the month for Ragnarok.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft still ended up last this month.

Looks like they are quoting Adobe (Adobe, who also confirmed the Xbox Series S won Black Friday last year as well). Adobe said that the top 5 products for Black Friday last week sold were:

  • Xbox Series X
  • Bluey
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
  • Drones
  • MacBook computers

No idea if Adobe is accurate or not, but I guess they were accurate last year.

The fact that it won the clio award twice in a row was the straw that broke the camel's back. Playstation had to concede its inferiority.

lmfao...someone please call the gubament. Maybe old lying Jim Cryan should ring the alarm bells. Uncle phil winning the clio awards, and now winning the GOTY (tomsguide) again. Lets not forget Halo Infinite. Xbox can't be stopped, we won't be stopped. Heck yeah!!

Series X being on top seems weird to me. I expected the Series S to top it since it's more available and it was the only one of them on sale.

Same here. Oddly enough, I look at Amazon right now, and the Series S is not to be found in the top 100, but the Series X is....and it's ahead of PS5.

Seeing this thread is hilarious because I usually see plenty of Series S consoles in my local Walmart and very few PS5/Series X.

In the last week and a half I've seen more PS5/Series X and no Series S consoles

It has been $249 for while which is a steal to be able to play mext gen games.

Series S is a crazy good value

The series s deals in the uk were insane seen it for £189 in various retailers. Even the series X had £40 slashed off.

Oh ffs. We went through this last year…

Adobe Analytics doesn’t deal with sales numbers. It’s research based on site traffic, searches etc of certain websites. The Washington Examiner article that references the AA data, never mentions sales or rankings. It’s this eXputer site and Twitter goons misrepresenting the data. Again… Do you folks ever learn?!?

They were not accurate last year… But they don’t claim to have sales data, so their accuracy isn’t in question… Last year when the NPD came out, the actual sales results were wildly different than AA’s market research. AA’s data isn’t for us… And we sure as hell can use it the way folks are trying to here and on twitter.

@kvallyx: Did you really just try to prove Adobe Analytics was “right” by linking a Business Insider article that uses Adobe Analytics as their source?

I really hope you don’t post on InstallBase…

Did you just try to say Adobe Digital Economy Index is wrong without any proof showing Adobe is wrong? And yup, I sure do post on Installbase. I must say, if you posted there, I am sure you would be banned in short order.

Xbox Series X beating out the Sony console is a surprise considering the momentum the latter was gaining. Most probably, it is because of the decrease inPlayStation 5stock due to the sales. But, it’s still a great move from Microsoft to hold back the stock for the holiday season.

SONY, current gen sales leader, wins again.

Oops, you mean Nintendo Switch.

I don't remember, but same thing happened last year or the year before right? Pretty sure someone else ended winning the month...but my memory is crap.

Seems strange people celebrating a company "winning" a month. I would be more impressed with it being a year, or consecutively at the very least. Heck, breaking records is more impressive than this. That's just me though. :/

40 posts in, and 1 hour later.....I believe there is a lot of "concern".

Last year. Series S won Black Friday but, lost the month.

OPs source basically confirms the exact same thing will happen again.

  • Xbox Series X topped the Black Friday sales chartthis year with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
  • Nintendo Switch held the No.1 spot in sales during the Thanksgiving period

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up in third place considering Ragnarok released at the beginning of the month.

I should have phrased my post better. I'm just saying it seems silly overall for a month. :)

AA doesn’t have sales data… That’s not what they do…

No measurable sales data reflects what they showed in their market research during Black Friday ‘21 or ‘22. But again, they don’t detail or predict sales data. They are a tool for marketing teams to gauge the effectiveness and reach of their marketing efforts.

Sigh…

Thats not what happened last year. Not even close. The only concrete weekly breakdown we got was the Switch, during Black Friday week, nearly outsold the PS5 and Series consoles for THE MONTH combined. (via NPD breakdown/press release). How the hell could the Series S “win” Black Friday if that was the case?!?!

Adobe Analytics DOES NOT deal with sales data… Stop misrepresenting their data/work for some fanboy gains. It’s insulting to what they set out to accomplish

I know exactly what the Adobe Digital Economy Index is (it's not about marketing, it's about looking at consumer spending and looking at trillions of transactions). You said they were wrong last year on Black Friday about the Xbox Series S being the top seller. Please prove Adobe wrong about Xbox Series S being the top seller last year on Black Friday and Xbox Series X this year on Black Friday.

You are disputing what Adobe has claimed. The onus is on you to prove them wrong.

Please provide where i've said that or GTFO. Unbelievable how you are twisting my words, pathetic Xbox fan.

I've said this :

"Black Friday =/= NPD. But we know hot it ended last year."

"November NPD ( which also has a Black Friday spending in their reports >>> Black Friday only."

Never ever implied that Adobe is wrong. What a idiotic words twisting by Xbox fan.

Fine then, my bad. But Adobe doesn't have a sales data. They are using so called "poll" from buyers. Buyers who bought some product, they click on Adobe application about which product they've had purchased.
