Xbox Series S is uglier than Sin and a poor purchase option

They should have went with the little cube everyone thought it was going to be. What is up with the giant black speaker splotched on it? Some people literally get anxiety from looking at it, I am a getting it a little bit too to be honest. It's called Trypophobia where people get uncomfortable looking at holes. If sound doesn't out of it, whats the point of that design decision?

I guess poor lems on a budget will be happy but most people are going to get the X anyways. How many poor lems are there really? The PS5 digital will likely be only 100 dollars more than the S and is actually a "next gen" console that has the same power as the 500 dollar PS5. Price to performance wise, the PS5 digital is much, much closer to the Xbox Series X than the S is for not too much more of a cost. PS5 digital is the perfect middle ground. The Xbox Series S is just too weak and too close in price to a much more powerful $400 PS5 making it arguably the inferior purchase decision. Except for lems but they are getting the X so that doesn't even matter.

For most people, the $400 digital PS5 would be a much better option between the two considering it's next gen power, playstation exclusives, and stronger brand/popularity. I think most people will prefer the look of the PS5 digital. Xbox Series S also has a much smaller SSD than PS5 digital which is a big problem too. Maybe Microsoft should send it back and come out with a better one for $300 or 400

I don't see why everyone is whining. It's a box with a fan vent on top. I'd prefer if the entire box was just black and the mesh was integrated into the top as a solid piece. But, it beats the hell out of the PS5.

The xbox one original is similar in design, mine is pretty much on all the time since it released 6 years ago. You wouldn't be saying the same if it was a ps4.

I wanted the white little cube too, even though I'm never gonna get it it just looks cute.

The motherboard is probably too long to do a cube without making it larger than the series X though I can't imagine what was removed to slim it down as such just lesser cooling as the series S will likely generate less heat?

I wish the speaker grill was just the same color of the body.

It just looks weird with that kind of contrast design (One S looks amazing imo).

That's very optimistic you think the ps5 digital is going to cost 399, blue ray drives don't cost a lot of money. Heck the production cost is like 10$, and they're also going to be useless, the size amount of games nowadays exceeds the amount of blue ray can hold and it's going to be even more next gen.

The problem with that is, there's exactly jack and shit on Playstation that I actually want to play. Of course, that's all the next gen Xbox offers me as well. I just want something to play OG xbox and XBLA type of stuff on and why i'll probably get an XBO S when they start dumping them for $100. Beyond that, I'll just play all new stuff on PC. Unless of course, the case could be made for playing competitive titles on console, since cheaters have practically destroyed anything PVP on PC.

@eoten: Most of the world prefers playstation exclusives over xbox ones so this is a big factor for most people

@Fairmonkey: The PS5 is only 5 tflops more. The Xbox Series S is using the same CPU as the one in the XSX, so it's faster than the PS5 CPU.

The PS5 digital will be no less than $449.

Sure, and all Xbox exclusives will also be on PC, and my current gaming PC outperforms the series S by like twice the performance. So there's nothing for me to gain with one. But, I still haven't found a Playstation exclusive that I give a damn about. Not since the PS2.

I'd assume the Series S cpu is clocked lower because it's paired with a weaker GPU. Not far off from the CPU clockspeed differences between One S and One X. Same game, different res, sometimes extra fps mode on the One X.

It's certainly grotesque but I don't buy a console to be an ornament. Keen to see what games it offers oevr the ps5 to determine which is going to be better.
