Xbox outages 3 days in a row

What's strange about it is only issue I have had is playing my Microsoft Movies and TV movies. My good friend can watch his movies on same app/service but he couldn't play his games, whereas I have no issues there with games. We both live a couple miles from each other, still use the same ISP. My only guess possibly is the location servers and what services being down being region specific.

Not sure how it works, but he uses the local default ISP DNS and I had Xbox manually set to the Google DNS (probably based in San Francisco) . Curious if depending on different DNS server locations it will route to different Microsoft servers for the services for efficiency. Hence why he can use services I can't and vice versa.

What an embarrassment... and some fools been saying cloud is the future.

But this goes back to something Ive been saying a long time, Xbox is all about DRM and not allowing you to really own what you buy or play.

It's always about moving game ownership away from people and locking it behind another paywall.

Outages for internal reasons and/or attempted DDoS attacks aren't that uncommon. But given the climate right now between Russia, Ukraine, and many of rhe allied countries helping Ukraine, we're kind of on edge against potential cyber warfare by Russia against pretty much everyone. Not that I think Xbox would be a target but certain Microsoft's Azure services and probably Amazon AWS would be big targets. But we don't have details of why these services are down. Could just be adding Fortnite streaming broke them, who knows.

They must have put 343 in charge of the network and cloud services…

I'm definitely not happy that people can't play the games they purchased, but how often does this really happen? (someone should track these outages on a calendar so we can see it as a whole) But this is one of the many reasons I don't support the digital only future.

Well it's expected, the massive amount of people buying xboxes is causing some issues. Good thing sony doesn't have to worry about that with the ps5.

Yeah, I'm still having issues playing certain games. It's still saying "the person who made the purchase has to log in" or something like that. At first (2-3 days ago) it said it on all my games, but now it only says it on a couple. Also I had problems getting on the store, but that was resolved yesterday. On twitter an official response said that it was a licensing error of some sort and they said they think they had it resolved several different times, but it's still a problem in some areas.

Ive had problems with PS5 not signing in occasionally but it was usually fixed after a day or so

I love that cows feign outrage as they pay $70 to rent GT7 because 90% of the game is tied to online DRM checks.

The only problem I had was Saturday night when I couldn't access guardians of the galaxy (PlayStation's best looking game)but after 3 attempts at launching it worked fine.

Xbox is only relevant because PS5s are scarce. Xbox first party games disappeared from sales charts like Xbox fans hopes for Halo Infinite co-op.🤣 PS5s aren't even available and the games still stayed at the top of NPD. im expecting 2024 or so, when the next uncharted and possibly persona6 releases. By then wolverine should be out too, and we will finally have some reasons to actually own a ps5.

even worse are the remasters and remakes. But for me it doesn't matter, im not going to complain about sequels and such. You can keep games fresh even if they're part of a long running series, just look at BoTW, mario, halo infinite, MSFS20 (which has been overhauled to a massive extent), elden ring, persona5, etc etc.

Europe is a growing market for xbox. If they can't resolve this issue soon it will affect their momentum there, especially right now their competitor/more popular brand PS5 is hard to find.
